We thought the days of booking onto a sportive for 20 quid were long gone… but thanks to Grand Tour Club, a new Tour de France-inspired road sportive series from the folks behind Glorious Gravel, you can choose from five incredible routes across the north of England, Scotland or Wales in 2026, at 2006 prices!

You might be aware that the Tour de France is coming back to the UK in 2027, so to give you a flavour of what’s in store for the pros, Grand Tour Club has devised five incredible ‘Queen Stage’ routes, featuring roads that will star in the opening Tour de France stages next year. With distances ranging between 90-120km for medium routes up to 176km for the long route at the Lake District stage, the word ‘short’ doesn’t exist here. No flat warm-ups, no easy options, no transition stages and no shortcuts… each event is built to be the most challenging and memorable day of any rider’s season.

Think you’re ready to take on a Queen Stage? Here are all the 2026 dates, locations and ride distances:

And the best part? Your first entry is half price! Simply sign up to Grand Tour Club with your first name and email address, and you’ll be sent a special offer code to take 50% off your first Grand Tour Club sportive entry. The standard prices are (an already very reasonable) £50.89 for a long route and £40.63 for the medium. That means you can do a long ride for just £25.45, or a medium for £20.31.

The half-price offer is only valid until 17th May, and places will fill up fast… make sure you sign up sharpish!

The gold standard for radar lights has long been the Garmin Varia series, but Paul Grele recently reviewed the Coospo TR70 Smart Radar Tailight, which matches many of the performance aspects of the Garmin radar-wise, has a great app, and stands out for its class-leading battery life.

It boasts double or triple the battery life of its competitors in equivalent modes. For example, in Day Flash mode (up to 70 lumens), the TR70 will last for 30hrs. The Bryton’s equivalent is claimed to be 17hrs and the Garmin is 10hrs or 16hrs depending which model is used (RCT715/RTL515).

At an RRP of £100.63, the Coospo TR70 is already significantly cheaper than most direct competitors, and it’s now even better value with 30% off at Amazon.

Enve’s Foundation Collection brings trickle-down technology from the brand’s flagship SES range – used Tadej Pogačar and the UAE Team Emirates-XRG team – at a more accessible price point.

The Foundation 45 Carbon Tubeless Disc Wheelset features a 45mm rim depth and is positioned as an all-round performance option. The wheels are said to be aerodynamically optimised for 25mm tyres, which is narrow compared to today’s standards, but the 21mm internal rim width and rim shape means they’ll still minimise drag if you wish to run wider 28mm tyres, according to the brand.

With an RRP of £1,800, the wheelset is now available with a 45% saving, bringing the price down to under £1,000.

Rudy Project’s Spinshield sunglasses feature a bold, eye-catching design with a wraparound lens, designed to offer “protection and visual coverage”.

Fit is supported by grippy nose pads and temple tips, with an ergonomic shape designed to hug the face without creating pressure around the ears, according to Rudy Project. They also use the brand’s RP Optics lenses, designed to maintain clarity and colour accuracy across a range of conditions, with UV400 protection.

The white and blue colourway with orange lens (pictured above) is currently discounted, alongside white matte frame with gold lens and black matte frame with red lens options.

Buy Rapha’s Pro Team Lightweight Backpack for £79.99

Rapha Pro Team Lightweight Backpack

The Rapha Pro Team Lightweight Backpack is a low-profile and lightweight design that sits high up the back and is specifically for ‘training before and after work’. It has a 10L capacity, which is smaller than most, but is just about enough for workday essentials.

If that capacity is sufficient, the Pro Team Lightweight Backpack is a strong option. It sits close to the body, while two adjustable chest straps help keep it secure while riding. When empty, reviewer Jamie noted it almost feels more like pulling on a gilet than wearing a backpack, making it a particularly comfortable and unobtrusive piece of kit.

For keeping drinks cool on long rides, CamelBak’s Podium Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle is a solid option. The Podium Steel is designed specifically for cycling, with practical touches like easy of drinking, dirt covers and secure locking mechanism. It’s not one for the weight weenies, though, given the stainless steel construction.

The rigid design also means compatibility can depend on your bottle cages, but our reviewer had no issues on rough rides with either carbon or alloy cages.

Several colourways are heavily discounted, including Petal, Sierra Red and Violet.
