Italian bike brand Cinelli has launched its updated HoBootleg Geo, a steel-framed adventure bike aimed at expedition riders and off-road tourers. Its new geometry has taken inspiration from rigid mountain bikes, but with the addition of plenty of mounting points for all your bikepacking needs.

Described as “un-killable”, the HoBootleg Geo is a re-imagined version of Cinelli’s HoBootleg bike. It has apparently been tweaked to “excel at single-track and technical mountain riding.” We probably wouldn’t take it to BikePark Wales, but maybe the Atlas Mountain Race or something similar.

Its frame is made of double butted steel, and the fork is a Columbus Futura Adventure, which is dynamo-compatible – ideal for multi-day bikepacking adventures. Compared with the older generation of HoBootleg, the Geo offers shorter stems, zero-offset seat posts with a dropper-compatible seat tube, and wider drop bars for stability.

The £2,199 build is specced with Shimano Cues 1×11 drivetrain, a BSA threaded bottom bracket, WTB ST wheels with Shimano hubs and WTB Ranger tyres. And, there’s even external cable routing. All of this helps to create a bike that’s easier to work on – something riders will certainly prioritise in the middle of a mountain pass when a gear cable snaps.

It’s equipped with mounting points galore: rear pannier rack mounts, downtube mounts above and below, seatpost, mudguard mounts, and a 6-eyelet fork. The fork is dynamo-ready and offers a multi-rake system whereby riders can choose between 45mm or 50mm rake to change the way the bike handles.

But, if you’d prefer a suspension fork, the frame is also compatible with that. The UDH-compatible rear dropouts help to future-proof the bike, and the tyre clearance is pretty good, with up to 3in tyres accepted on 29in wheels.

In terms of finishing kit, you get a Selle Royal SRX short-nosed saddle, and in the cockpit is Cinelli’s branded Adventure Curve flared handlebar. The seatpost is 27.2mm in diameter, also.

The Geo comes in sizes XS to XL, and in one colour: Desert Mud. It’s available from the Cinelli website as either a full build at £2,199 or a frameset at £1,300.
