Salsa Journeyman is a versatile adventure road bike - Video First Look

This pink beauty has versatility written all over it

There's a steady flow of adventure road bikes passing through the office these days but this Salsa Journeyman stood out, not just because of its pink paint job but because it has a lot of versatility on offer and isn't insanely priced for the prestigious US brand with stacks of heritage. Check out all the key details and first impressions in the video above.

The Journeyman was introduced last year and is aimed at making owning a Salsa a bit more affordable, and to make adventure and gravel riding more accessible with a bike that is a bit more relaxed than its Warbird race bike. The aluminium frame is nicely designed and it, along with the carbon fork, has mounts for all manner of extra water bottles, racks and mudguards.

This model costs £1,650 and is specced with a SRAM Apex 1 groupset with mechanical TRP Spyre disc brakes, WTB Nano 2.1x27.5" tyres on WTB rims laced to Novatech hubs, and finished off with Salsa flared drop bars, stem, seatpost and a plush WTB saddle. As well as the 650b model we have here there's also a 700c version as well.

The Journeyman review will be live at off.road.cc very soon so head over there to keep an eye out for it in the next couple of weeks.

David worked on the road.cc tech team from 2012-2020. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes
