The B'Twin 15mm Pedal Spanner has the length, heft and comfortable grip that you want for fitting or removing even stubbornly stuck pedals. There are two U-shaped openings, to make it easier to get the spanner at a good angle for maximum grunt. It's all you really need in a workshop pedal spanner.

It's made of 4mm thick steel. Decathlon don't specify what steel, but it seems to be hardened, and certainly isn't mild steel like some cheap tools. The two openings aren't especially cleanly cut in the curve, but it's the flats that count and they're straight and symmetrical.

The spanner is long enough (275mm) for a decent amount of leverage. I often fit a short length of aluminium tube over the handle of bike tools to give myself more mechanical advantage. This spanner's handle was too wide for that, being at least 40mm across and 10mm deep, but the width of the handle means you can apply lots of pressure without hurting your hand, notwithstanding the fact that the handle is encased in hard plastic.

There's a hole in the handle so you can hang it up on a tool board. I suppose Decathlon might have incorporated a bottle opener, or used a softer and grippier plastic for the handle, like Park Tools do, but really there's little to find fault with. It does the job well. It's not expensive. Why pay more?
