The Danny Shane Pro Arrow Road Jacket is a wind resistant and water resistant top for cold but not freezing rides.
The Pro Arrow is mostly made from a brush-backed polyester/polyurethane fabric that doesn't let wind through.
The only sections that aren't made from this material are the underside of the arms, the side panels and the cuffs. These are polyester/elastane, again brush-backed, and they aren't particularly wind resistant, letting plenty of air in and out.
This is one of those tops that sits on the border between being a jersey and being a jacket. I'd call it a jacket, as Danny Shane does, but I wouldn't wear it over a jersey, just directly on top of a base layer. Worn like that, it's good for when the temperature is in the high single degrees centigrade.
Similar jackets often have breathable panels at the rear too and you might want that. It's a case of horses for courses. You do sacrifice some breathability with the windproof rear panels, but you get some extra warmth so it all depends what you're after.
I found the sizing to be roomy for a medium although, as I said, I didn't wear a jersey underneath. It's not a loose cut, but it's not super-close fitting either. Really, though, it's just a bit bigger than most other mediums out there and you might even need to size down to get a flap-free fit. That said, if you're thinking of wearing a base layer plus a jersey underneath, the sizing would be about right so, again, it all comes down to how you intend to use this top.
You get three pockets around the back, topped with reflective piping, along with another zipped one back there for your valuables. There's an exit port there for an earphones lead. Danny Shane calls this pocket waterproof but I found that water could get inside there easily enough in bad conditions.
The high collar offers good neck coverage and there's a zip garage at the top of the sturdy YKK front zip to stop any irritation under your chin. The chunky zip pull is easy enough to grab when you're wearing big gloves.
The waistband is highly elasticated so you get a close fit without any draughts and a silicone gripper helps hold the back in place as you ride.
I wouldn't say there's anything particularly mind-blowing about this jacket but it puts in a good, solid performance across the board.
Verdict
Good, solid wind resistant and water resistant jacket for cold but not freezing weather

Although Danny Shane doesn't bill it as such, this is essentially a softshell jacket. It performs well and I like the looks but the price is still high for what you get.
