London cyclists have a great chance to win a new bike worth £500, plus other prizes, at LCC's next female-focused ride. The winner will be picked at random from those who take advantage of the charity’s Cycle Show ticket discount.
All ride participants will get free breakfast and bike maintenance before the ride, and will be eligible for discounted tickets (just £10) to the Cycle Show in Earl's Court – which runs from Friday, October 9-11 - where the ride will finish at midday.
The ride will take place on Sunday, October 11, meeting at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1 6HZ from 9am, with breakfast at 10am, and a 10.45am departure. (Just a short walk/ride from Waterloo station)
LCC have carefully chosen a picturesque route through the London's Battersea Park and Brompton Cemetery and London’s quieter streets where possible to the Cycle Show 2009.
This ride will be a celebration of female cyclists everywhere encouraging new cyclists and offering support and advice to the more experienced.
Riders will be encouraged to decorate their bikes and our colourful parade of cyclists will ride through all the rich autumn colours of some of London's beautiful green spaces. The ride will finish at approximately 11.30am-noon at Earls Court where the LCC have managed to secure riders the discounted tickets. Marshals will get in free.
Last year’s show attracted more than 20,000 visitors, and 2009’s event is set to be the biggest yet, with a massive variety of exhibitors, as well as test tracks, a seated arena, BMX street course, a showcase arena and a Cycling Store.
This year, the Cycle Show is increasing entertainment for women by putting on fashion shows, providing women-specific advice on nutrition, hair and make-up, route-planning, and information on leisure holidays for women.
There will also be a session panel of female cycling experts on the Cyclodelic stand, offering advice on choosing the right bike, customising your bike with female-specific accessories, and advising how to get the best bargains.
As ever, Cycle Show 2009 will have all the latest gear, along with great entertainment including stunt shows, cycle holidays and a chance to visit LCC's stand and chat to staff and volunteers. TfL will have an exhibit on HGV safety.
The Cycle Show 2009 takes place from 9-11 October and is open from 10am-6pm on the Friday and Saturday, and from 10am-5pm on the Sunday.
Tickets cost £11.50 for adults, but road.cc users who book using our special promotional code can get in for a tenner. To get your discount when buying tickets, visit www.cycleshow.co.uk/rcc - the ticket offer code is RCC, and the ticket price is £10.
