Jeff Banks rides into Stratford-upon-Avon

Jeff Banks CBE rides this year’s Shakespeare 100 Sportive

International designer Jeff Banks CBE is coming to Stratford-upon-Avon to put some miles in riding, 100 to be exact, the Macmilln Cancer Support’s Shakespeare 100/MacRide event on Sunday, September 13 and you can join him.

The  designer was recently awarded the CBE for his services to fashion and charitable work and is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in Warwickshire by riding the 100 mile Shakespeare 100 Sportive event.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to this bike ride around South Warwickshire and the Cotswolds - I hope lots more cyclists enter to make this a really memorable day for Macmillan, and raise lots of money”

As well as the 100 Sportive there is also the established MacRide for the leisure and pleasure cyclists - distances of 63 and 25 miles, together with a gentle and safe 10 mile ride for families with younger children to enjoy the countryside.

MacRide organiser Rob Gullen said: “This is the fifth year of the popular MacRide, but this time we decided to add a more challenging event. The Shakespeare 100 Sportive targets the more serious cyclists who like the big challenge of 100 miles with some serious hills. It was very exciting when we saw Jeff’s name appear on our registration website, coming to support us here in Stratford-upon-Avon.”

The MacRide has steadily grown in numbers over the years, starting with 180 plus riders in 2005 and now attracting almost 400.

The events all start at Stratford-upon-Avon’s Park and Ride. Visit www.macride.org.uk or www.shakespeare100.org.uk for all the details and online entry.
