Aldi are offering a whole load of cycling accessories in a promotion next week, including a soft shell jacket for 15 quid.
The usual deal with Aldi’s Special Buys is that they have fairly limited stock so you need to get into one of the stores pretty early to make sure you get what you’re after.
The offers include gloves at £3.49 a pair, an LED set at £4.99 and jerseys at £7.99. There are also saddles, socks, pumps, shorts… quite a large range, by the look of things.
We got a merino/viscose top and some socks from one of these Aldi events once. You couldn’t say that Rapha, Assos or Castelli have any need to feel threatened in terms of the quality, but they performed okay. For the prices, you certainly couldn’t complain.
We’ve not seen next week’s products other than on the Aldi website so we can’t vouch for the quality this time around, but if you want to find out for yourself, make a note in your diary for Thursday morning.

I use Aldi all the time, they’re less than half a mile from my house, and I have nearly all their cycling stuff, long trousers, shorts, short and long-sleeved tops, cycling jackets – spring and winter, gloves – long and short-fingered, lights, bike tool bag and mini-pump. They were bought last spring and autumn so have a different design but all work fine and are about a third to quarter the price of most stuff in the market. Quality of most stuff is fine, (they’re German after all), and almost impossible to beat on price. Good for electrical goods as well as they offer a 3-year guarentee on everything. Watching TV right now on a 32-inch from there that was about £50 cheaper than anything else on the market. Have bought cameras and other stuff over the years and nothing has ever broken.
As has been said, best to get there early as the size you want might go fast, but my local store doesn’t mind people getting stuff out of bags and trying them on. I’m getting the rain jacket as my cape isn’t much use in windy weather and with all the rain we’re getting I need it. If I get a chance to use it on Thurs or Fri I’ll let people know if it’s any good. Might get a base layer or two as well. Stuff does hang around for a while but not always the popular sizes.

Some useful items. The clothing is a bit hit-and-miss with sizing but I will get more mitts – mine are lasting well, as are the winter gloves usually sold in October or so – and the socks are good value.
The toolkit is excellent – a robust seat pack, a multitool which I’ve seen for £5 at Sainsbury’s, tyre levers and 8, 9, 10 & 12(?)mm flat ring spanners, incorporating 2 sizes of spoke keys.
OTOH I bought the track pump a couple of years ago and it was junk so took it straight back.

The multitool isn’t that great I thought, replaced it with a more expensive solid metal one I won last year in the TdF. Use solid metal tyre levers as well that I’ve had for years. The bag is good though and carries everything I need when I go out.
Don’t know about the track pump but have the two cylinder one for the car but I use it for bikes as well and it’s fine, if nothing special.
Have the mitts but hardly ever use them as I prefer either full-length or nothing but when it gets hotter I might use them more.
Bought one of their rain pak
Bought one of their rain pak a jaks last year…£7.99 i think, absolutely brilliant,folds into its own pocket and keeps you warm if not dry. small enough to go into a rear pocket of a jersey..served me well all spring when i needed something to go over the arm warmers etc when really cool.

I’ve bought running stuff there before (crane) baselayers and shorts and they’re fine! It seems that you can normally get basement bargain prices there and at that other famous European store Lidl!

Their socks ( with some Merino in ) are very good hard wearing and I have a pair of the tights with a softshell-like face that are great in the cold and wet..

I’ve got cycling stuff from
I’ve got cycling stuff from Aldi and Lidl in the past. Best to make a judgement of quality when you have the product in your hand and you won’t go much wrong.
Just got the lightweight
Just got the lightweight jacket and a softshell which seems decent for £15. Not much stock left already…
update:
Softshell is a pretty nice fit and looks reasonably put together with a zip pocket and 2 mesh pockets. Certainly do for commuting and not-sunday-best so i got one in white, one in black.
As for the other stuff, jerseys felt so-so, the socks felt a bit flimsy, as did the shorts. Track pump looked alright, didn’t check out the rest of the stuff.
