    G snaps bike in half.

    G snaps bike in half.

    Correction, not G’s.

But what a strong ride back into the group.

    Great race today!

    The peloton needs more riders

The peloton needs more riders like De Gendt and Alaphilippe. Guys like this definitely make watching a 5 hour stage worthwhile. It’s what racing should be. Attack attack!!

MSM need to fact check before

MSM need to fact check before publishing stories saying G broke his frame, he fell off and lost the chain and was soon back underway. If people had looked at the video footage of the incident they would have seen G crash on a bike bearing his rider number and riding a bike with the same rider number after the crash. I can’t see his team mates swapping race numbers over in the heat of the moment.

Given the source, though, I'm going with Occam's Razor and assuming it was just a fancy-sounding word used without really having a clear idea what they meant by it. It seems like the cameras were recording, because they had clips of the incident that were posted on social media.

@mdavidford Latent can mean present but not active, so perhaps that's just a slightly convoluted way of saying the cameras etc were in situ but not rolling.

Yeah, it always takes a while for the law to catch up with new technologies and it's not necessarily predictable which ones will become popular and be a big problem. Personally, I'm hoping that new laws are drafted to cover the use of perv glasses (e.g. the Meta ones) in public as they are bound to be used abusively.

@mitsky A somewhat pedantic point of minor interest (but when has that stopped me?) but traffic rules and even traffic lights predate the widespread use of the motor car; the first traffic light in the world was installed outside the Houses of Parliament in 1868 (unfortunately, being gas powered, it exploded shortly afterwards and injured a policeman). Driving on the left was mandated by Act of Parliament in 1835. Horse-drawn traffic was actually considerably more dangerous than motor traffic, with an average of 150 people per year being killed in London in the Victorian era in traffic incidents; last year 98 people died in traffic incidents with a population more than twice the size (the numbers may of course be somewhat skewed by the fact that modern medicine can save victims in ways undreamt of back then).

Think of it more along the lines on not letting the greys in, so that the reds aren't out competed. It's better to discourage the behaviour, before it has become established.
