A cyclist has died after a collision with an HGV in Hunts Cross, near Liverpool this afternoon.
According to a Merseyside Police spokesman, emergency services were called to Hillfoot Avenue at 1.50pm to reports a cyclist and a HGV had been in collision. The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
The man is yet to be formally identified and officers are working to trace his next of kin.
The incident happened on Hillfoot Avenue (as the traffic travels towards Halewood), before the Hunts Cross junction.
Officers have asked that anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this incident to contact 0151 777 5747 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The Hillfoot Avenue/ Speke
The Hillfoot Avenue/ Speke Road junction is horrible (as is the rest of the A562 and A561 out of Liverpool) Ive feared for my life trying to get down those roads myself and this death does not surprise me.
The Echo is showing a tipper
The Echo is showing a tipper truck was involved and it was an old fella, in his 80s, who died.
Probably been riding a bike all his life poor old boy.
