business as usual for drivers as regards people with disabilities:

Worcestershire Parkway disabled parking, 'unexpected demand' to blame

A spokesperson for Great Western Railway said: "We offer 23 accessible parking bays immediately outside the station, and a separate pick-up/drop off point, both of which are clearly signposted.

what cars do to people

Road rage BMW driver from Ashford ran over van driver’s toes and turned him ‘like a rolling pin’ after he refused to give way

He said Potter is married with two sons, is of good character and has one previous conviction from 1999.

She has been signed off sick from work with anxiety and depression since the confrontation.

The chairman of the bench said: “Be careful now you have eight points on your licence.”

Devon man's warning after getting stung in restricted car park

Malcolm says 'there were no clear markings' and is now warning others

https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/devon-mans-warning-after-getti...

mate, I can see your unclear markings from space.

Do you seriously think you're going to find unrestricted parking in the heart of the city centre? How on Earth did you even find it, like you have to drive through the flying motorbikes / access only paved pedestrian area to even get to it.

Three people died in a road accident after their car’s GPS told them to drive down an incomplete bridge, sending them plummeting off the edge to their deaths.

The incident occurred in the city of Bareilly in India on Saturday, when residents in a nearby village visited the riverbank only to find a submerged car stuck in a ditch.

A man who took a picture of a ‘Welcome to Florida’ sign while driving allegedly caused a crash that killed his three nephews and niece.

Marvin Redondo-Funes, 25, reportedly slowed down to photograph the sign at the Georgia-Florida border while driving from New York with his girlfriend and the four kids.

Redondo-Funes allegedly went down to 1 to 2 mph in order to snap a clear picture of the state line and a car behind him did not see the sudden slow-down and rear-ended him at full speed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

You have to wonder how many drivers are merrily writing-off their cars this way. Nearly all the coverage is flooding related - Chippenham and Bradford on Avon.

Council acting like ‘the Sheriff of Nottingham’ with parking charges

'We are going to see this unjust charge unfairly affect the poorest people'

The new charges will be “emissions-based parking,” where cars are charged an additional amount based on how polluting the engine is. Based on the idea that “the polluter pays,” emissions-based parking has been the case in council car parks in Bath since September 2023

A police officer will be required to take part in a driver training course after hitting a parked car in Colchester.

Residents in Mersea Road captured a police officer ramming a parked car on November 11 at around 7.43pm.

Essex Police confirmed that action has been taken against the officer involved.

An Essex Police spokesman said: ”A marked police car was in collision with another vehicle on Mersea Road, Colchester on November 11.

“No-one was seriously injured and details were exchanged.

“The driver of the police car will undertake a driver training course.”

I assume the officer has been released by residents.

A woman is being taken to court for £1,906 after she took longer than five minutes to pay for parking.

Another "who will win" but for posters here. On the one hand "read the notice!" eg. park there, accept the ParkCo's arbitrary rules. And if you break them, then want to quibble penalties, then yeah that could be costly.

OTOH the ParkCos are rather unlovely organisations...

Maybe a problem we would like drivers to have.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx28wr7lge1o

But also an opportunity to float my geometric council tax for cars plan. £512 per tonne per year for the first motor vehicle registered to an address. £1024 for the second, £2048 for the third, £4096, ... . Rising with RPI of course.

Man gives up on electric car after charging ordeal

Quote:

A motorist who was told he could not charge his electric car outside his house said he had been left with no choice but to sell it.

David Kelsall said Oldham Council had judged that charging cables would pose a trip hazard outside his home in Hathershaw, Greater Manchester.

After six months of wrangling, the retired mechanic said he had sold his vehicle because the "cost and worry" of using public charging points - where he said he did not feel safe - had caused him so much stress that he felt ill.

Application to turn the former site of The Farmers pub in Sevenoaks into a six-storey, 56-apartment complex with three parking spaces

https://www.kentonline.co.uk/sevenoaks/news/it-s-a-pipe-dream-to-imagine...

Comments on this seem pretty sensible - normally it's carbrains losing their minds at the idea of somewhere to live that doesn't involve car ownership. I would like to introduce "drive into the countryside" Sevenoaks folk to sprawl, though.

It's a veritable war on parkers, don't you know!

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/cameras-plan-catch-parents-parking-9764409

Quote:

Cameras to catch parents parking illegally while dropping off their kids at school could be installed across Bristol under city council plans. Councillors will meet on Thursday, December 5, to decide whether to introduce a trial of CCTV that can automatically read drivers’ number plates.

A report to the transport and connectivity policy committee said enforcement was difficult for many reasons, including the fact traffic wardens could not be at all 160 schools in the city and that drop-off and pick-up times were very short.

It said: “Increasing the number of civil enforcement officers is not a cost-effective solution, so officers have been exploring other technical opportunities. Camera enforcement is heavily restricted by legislation, but parking on ‘school keep clear’ markings, providing they are supported by a traffic regulation order, is one of the few [interventions] which can be enforced using camera technology.

Parking row explodes as resident protesting new double yellow lines is 'rammed' by council worker

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/parking-row-explodes-as-resident-p...

Quote:

"All of my neighbours are outraged that this has happened and that the council has gone against the peoples wishes," <resident> told the News Shopper.

<The council> defended the new restrictions, saying they were introduced to "improve road safety by reinforcing the Highway Code's requirements to keep junctions clear of parked vehicles".

The photo is from another website's article about the story, but illustrates the utter entitlement of these people complaining that there are now double yellow lines there to stop them ignoring the HC and dangerously parking on a junction…
