9 speed rear mech on 11-46 cassette?

Hi,

Bit of a hack job for this one but hoping for success.

What I’m intending to do is convert my cyclocross bike into a 1 x setup. I’ve got 10 speed 105 shifters and want to use a 9 speed M771 XT rear mech as I believe the cable pull will work. I want to use an 11-46 cassette and want to know if the 9 speed XT mech will clear the 46 tooth with a longer b screw?

Any help would be great.

Cheers.

Tom

that rear mech will do whatever its told to do by the shifter so no problem using a 9spd mech with 10spd shifters.

The large rear cog will be the problem as the top pulley wheel could foul the large cog. Most mechs have a tooth capacity, and that mech just doesnt have the capacity.

you might be able to get it to work, but it shouldnt 4
