Specialized Tarmac Pro Race 2016

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I'm looking into a new road bike for next year and there's a great discount on the Specialized Tarmac Pro Race 2016 model (RRP is £4800 and it's available generally at £3600).

I can't seem to find many (if any) reviews on this model and wonder if anyone has one that they can comment on, or point me in the right direction to read up on it.

Any help you can give would be most appreciated!

Thanks.

Paul

Aplogize for the delay, been out on 100 miler.

As far as tube shapes, when you put these frames next to each other it takes a close inspection to notice the tube shape differences. These shapes are what makes the ride/handling of 49 equal to a 56 or a 61 and vice versa.

I got my frame in late 2014. I saved a lot of money building it up with Di2 components I wanted and then doing the install myself. The ride is super! It's comfortable/compliant at the same time a rocket ship. And it climbs like a billy goat. Absolutely brilliant engineering. My last 2 rides? A 2011 Scott Foil and 2013 Pinarello Dogma 65.1 both running DA mechanical.

Sounds sublime. I currently ride a pretty heavy cyclocross alu frame/carbon fork and have done so for four years, so my next ride will be a significant upgrade, as you'll have guessed.

Very excited about going lighter and faster, just want to make sure I'm spending my money on the right bike!

Thanks for all the info...

Here's Specy S-Works and Pro tube shapes. This is what Specy means by Rider Engineered, the far left is a 49 frame, a 56, and last a 61frame.

Wow, that 61 frame looks a monster! Amazing that they're all the same bike ultimately, but look so different in the cut-out example.

How long have you have your S-Works? and does it do everything you need (i.e. no need for another bike)?

I ride an S-Works Tarmac. The difference between this and a Pro is the Fact carbon, the S-Works with Fact 11r and the Pro with 10r. Difference in stiffness and slight weight increase is about it; tube shapes and geometry are equivalent. I'm unsure about the Pro BB as I run Ceramic Speed PF30's which are smooth as melted butter.

No reviews on the Pro but many on the S-Works because they are so close to each other in so many ways no one wants to bother spending the time to do so. Go ride one. Buy it if you like it, don't if you don't.

Thanks VeloUSA.

Yes, I guess it's about time to go try one out and before the 2016 model sells out. The 2017 has been released I think and that's considerably more money!
