Footage has been posted to Facebook of the moment when a cyclist in Ireland was the victim of a jaw-dropping close pass by an oncoming truck on Friday.
Uploader Marvin Shankly Mc Evilly said the incident had been reported to guards and that a statement had been made.
“Hope he loses his licence and job, bloody moron,” he added.
A number of people passed comment on the fact that the cyclists were riding two abreast. In a separate comment Shankly Mc Evilly said that police agree the driver was in the wrong.
Another member of the group of riders, Padraig Carberry, said his companion had been cycling “totally legally with full flashing headlight visible at half a mile ahead and in hi vis.”

Really hope that’s just
Really hope that’s just compressed footage and the original is much better. Otherwise there’s no point buying a Cycliq if you can’t make out registration plates.

Well even with my tired eyes I can make the registration plate out in full screen mode no problems.

you can even read it on the screengrab in the article.
On full screen it is easily read.

This is my best screengrab, from the 23s mark. On Safari, Retina MBP.
Can one of you guys share yours?
If someone can’t read the reg
As others have said, the reg can be read and even in compressed Cycliq files I’ve sent to Police they can identify the reg but then at that stage they’re only assessing the video for any offence committed and they’d use an original copy of the HD video in any prosecution.
Only thing that irks me about videos of incidents is the posting of the video online as it only encourages the armchair detectives and court of public opinion, both of which are utterly worthless and pointless in any outcome. Just forward any videos of incidents to the police, or guards in this case, and let them decide not joe public.

The other half is sites like road.cc posting it as clickbait and activley encouraging the armchair detectives and court of public opinion, both of which are utterly worthless and pointless in any outcome. Agreed – this click bait stuff is depressing, I can elect to depress myself by clicking through YouTube for 10 mins. It would perhaps be useful if Road.cc would follow up these videos and ask the police for their opinion, has it been submitted? Are they looking to prosecute etc. That would be journalism congruent with the need to show the video, else just stick to reviews, deals etc…
Wow. What makes a
Wow. What makes a “professional driver” in control of a 15 tons of mobile machinery think “I know, I’ll pretend I’m going to kill this cyclist”. No different from pointing a gun at someone.

Northern drivers in the south and vice versa still view themselves as unaccountable.
