We brought you news of the updated Ragley models back in January 2019 and now we’ve got our grubby mitts on a Ragley Piglet for testing! The shorter travel steel hardtail has been bestowed with boost, grown in reach and gotten slacker too during the companies short hiatus – we can’t wait to take it for a ride! First though, here’s a first look at a complete build of the bike.
- The best mountain bikes for under £1,000 – the best budget buys ridden and rated
- The best mountain bikes you can buy for under £1,500 – full sus and hardtails
- Best mountain bikes for under £3,000 – capable trail bikes that won’t break the bank
You like the Blue Pig (150mm) but don’t want all that travel? The 650B Piglet (130mm) might be right up your street, Ragley says it was designed as the milder mannered counterpart to the Blue Pig, specced around a shorter travel fork they say it’s the perfect all-round UK mountain bike.

Still designed to be ridden hard, the new frame has been given a dose of boost to stiffen up the rear and bring it up to date with other bikes. The reach has grown to 455mm on this large bike, this is coupled with a seat tube of 460mm, a wheelbase of 1187mm and short chainstay of 425mm.

The head angle has been made slacker at 65.5 degrees when the bike sports a 130mm fork and the seat tube angle with the same fork is 73 degrees.

Elsewhere there is a threaded bottom bracket, ISCG 05 tabs, near cable routing under the top tube and also a 5 Year Warranty and lifetime crash replacement.

The bike is designed around 27.5″ wheels and will fit a maximum tyre width of 2.6″, the complete bikes are specced with Raceface AR OFFSET 30 rims so we expect this max 2.6″ tyre is based on using them with 30mm internal width rims as per the fitted Raceface ones.

Speaking of the spec, the bikes we have in for test is the one on the Ragley website which costs £1749.99. For the money you get a Rockshox Revelation fork, a 1x Shimano SLX set up with an 11-42t cassette and a 32T chainring. There are SLX brakes too, a Brand X dropper post (120mm for the Small and 150mm for the other sizes), then there are those Raceface AR OFFSET 30 rims we mentioned earlier with Formula hubs and a WTB Vigilante/WTB Trail Boss 2.6″ tyre combo, the former looking pretty aggressive!

Finishing the build are Ragley 780mm wide bars, a Ragley 50mm stem and Ragley grips. You can get the frame only for £549.99 and this build for £1749.99 from various sites online right now. We’ll get out on this beast and get back to you soon with a full review.
