Trek has introduced an electric version of its new Domane endurance road bike, along with a new electric city bike called Inbound+ and an e-bike-certified Charge WaveCel helmet that features an integrated daytime running light.
Trek introduced its updated Domane last month, dropping the long-running IsoSpeed decoupler in favour of a new carbon layup, flexing seatpost and wider tyres. Now it has unveiled the electric Domane+ SL with a claimed range of up to 115 miles and weights as low as 11.1kg (24.5lb).
How come the Domane+ SL is so light?
Trek says, “Its low weight comes from a streamlined 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame and compact TQ HPR40 motor system that’s discreetly integrated into the frame. Together, they give Domane+ SL the quick acceleration, responsive handling, and efficient ride feel riders expect from a performance road bike.”

TQ HPR40 is a small and efficient mid-drive motor that responds to your input to add assistance. It can offer 40Nm of torque and 200W of power, and it’s nearly silent too.
You can adjust the e-system through the Trek Central app, including fine-tuning power delivery and customising support up to 200% for a more noticeable boost on climbs and during harder efforts.
In terms of range, Trek reckons you’ll get up to 70 miles with the standard 360Wh battery, although you can choose a larger 580Wh battery through Trek’s Project One custom bike builder, extending the range to up to 115 miles – although the exact distance will of course depend on terrain, your weight, conditions, assist level…
As with the standard (non-electric) Domane, you get space for tyres up to 40mm wide (35mm tyres are fitted as standard) so you can tackle rough roads and even light gravel, and the seatpost is designed to absorb vibration and add comfort too.
You also get daytime lights along with mounts for bags and mudguards.
The all-new Domane+ SL is available through Trek’s Project One customisation program, where you can choose the finish and components, including battery size.
Prices? The range starts with the Domane+ SL 6 AXS Rival XPLR 1X at €5,999.99. Then there’s the Domane+ SL 7 AXS at €7,499.99 with the Domane+ SL 9 AXS at €8,999.99.

Trek introduces Inbound+ urban e-bike
Trek has also unveiled an Inbound+ urban e-bike. Rather than being an update of an existing model, this one is entirely new. It’s powered by Bosch’s new hub-based Hub Line motor system, which is known for its smooth and quiet performance. https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/products/hub-line
Trek says, “Inbound+ pairs a minimalist design with powerful electric support, offering riders a clean, modern ride experience without sacrificing capability.”
Inbound+ is equipped with integrated lights, full mudguards and a MIK HD rear rack, so it sounds like you’ll be pretty well set up for commuting in changeable conditions from the off.
The battery is both lockable and removable, and an adjustable stem allows you to fine-tune the handlebar position easily enough.
The step-over and step-through frame platforms remain the same across the range, but you can choose from three different models with batteries ranging from 360Wh to 600Wh and prices from £2,000 up to £2,350.
Trek launches e-bike-certified Charge WaveCel helmet
Finally, Trek has announced the all-new Charge WaveCel helmet, which it describes as an e-bike-certified commuter helmet designed for city streets, bike paths, and everyday rides.
“Charge WaveCel is NTA-8776 certified under the Dutch standard for e-bike use at speeds up to 28mph / 45km/h and earned a Virginia Tech Recommended four-star rating,” says Trek. “Higher Virginia Tech star ratings are associated with a lower concussion risk, and the organisation recommends helmets rated with four stars or higher.”
NTA 8776 is the world’s first safety certification standard created specifically for high-speed e-bike and speed pedelec helmets,
“It also comes with a Trek Flare Helmet Light that magnetically attaches to the rear of the helmet, giving riders a simple way to help stand out during daytime rides,” says Trek.
The Flare Helmet Light is designed to help get you seen from up to 400 meters away during the day and has a claimed runtime of up to 10 hours (in Night Flash mode). The light attaches magnetically to the back of the helmet, offers four flash patterns to help you stand out, and removes easily for USB-C recharging (in as little as 90 minutes).
Trek reckons that the new Charge WaveCel is 50g lighter than the previous model and much better ventilated.
As the name indicates, the safety technology comes from WaveCel. The fit system is controlled by a Boa dial, and the strap is secured by a magnetic Fidlock buckle.
