The 2026 Tour de France may only be five days old (though trying tell that to us hardy souls covering the race), but there has been no shortage of talking points. We’ve been treated to a spectacular Catalan start, a new, intriguing kind of team time trial, and soaring temperatures which have triggered yet another safety and climate change debate in professional cycling.
Tadej Pogačar’s ongoing ability to, well, win bike races has also raised an important, possibly existential for the sport: Is there such a thing as winning too much?

I told you there was a lot to talk about. So, it’s fortunate then that Ryan, along with his Tour travelling companion James Startt, decided to sit down and reflect on all those Tour talking points and more (including some inevitable food chat) as the road.cc Podcast hits the road.

Ryan also caught up with a host of big names during the first week of cycling’s biggest race, including Gerain Thomas, Tom Pidcock, Alex Dowsett, Fred Wright, Jake Stewart, and the Tour overlord himself, Pogačar, in a jampacked episode from the sweltering heat of southern France.
