Titanium and steel bike specialist Enigma has partnered with Skarper to add e-bike capability to its titanium bikes. The click-on, click-off electric assist system is compatible across both new and existing models to “redefine what a long-term titanium bike looks like”.
Enigma Bicycle Works is known for its handcrafted titanium bikes, and rather than launching a dedicated electric model, Enigma frames can now be specified as ‘Skarper-ready’, allowing riders to add electric assist if and when required.

Enigma says, “Our frames are engineered with permanence in mind. The question we kept hearing was, ‘What if I need electric assist one day?’ Skarper answers that beautifully. It adds capability without compromising the frame, the geometry, or the ride. And when you don’t need it, it comes off. That balance defines the Enigma philosophy.”
The Skarper e-bike conversion kit has been co-developed with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and is backed by Sir Chris Hoy.

Whether ordering a fully custom titanium frame or upgrading an existing Enigma, the frame is designed to accept Skarper’s patented DiskDrive system. This means click-on electric assistance can be added at any point during the bike’s lifespan.
The system works by replacing your standard rear brake disc with Skarper’s proprietary DiskDrive. The motor and battery unit then clip onto that, as well as a removable chainstay mount.
Skarper claims up to 76Nm of torque, which automatically ramps up or down depending on your input and elevation, and a range of up to 50km from the 240Wh battery.

“Even in Eco the boost is instant and pretty good,” ebiketips’ Rebecca Bland said when she tried it out. “From a performance aspect, it’s hard to fault. It’s not particularly noisy, the power transfer is quick, and from an ease of use perspective, it’s simple.”
Enigma frames and builds are now available with a Skarper e-bike conversion kit through Enigma Bicycle Works and at their East Sussex showroom.

That Skarper unit looks like it will create lots of heel-strike for anyone with large feet. I’d be interested to hear some reviews.
Hi Lesterama, in practice, heel strike hasn’t been an issue for riders, including those with larger feet. The Skarper click-on e-bike drive system is positioned carefully in relation to the rear triangle, and the drive unit sits clear of the natural pedal arc. It was engineered to integrate cleanly with standard frame geometry, so pedalling feel and foot clearance remain natural and unchanged for the vast majority of riders. As for reviews, we have a number from real riders over on our Trustpilot page: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.skarper.com
We’ve asked for a test unit over email if you can get one to us Skarper folks?
