When Yves Lampaert and the rest of the Soudal Quick-Step squad set off on their Friday training ride around the roads near Calpe, they were probably expecting four hours, some climbs, possibly an effort or two and maybe even a coffee if they were really lucky.
What about some impromptu mid-ride strength training? Probably not on anyone’s bingo card.
Well, in a somewhat concerning development considering Soudal Quick-Step, numerous other pro teams and thousands of amateur riders train on these roads year-round, a motorist travelling on those very same roads somehow managed to end up stuck on a roadside wall.
As pro rider Dana Rožlapa commented on Lampaert’s Instagram post about the bizarre incident, “I’m still wondering how that man even got up there… and whether he should be driving at all.”
Anyway, with the damage done, the Soudal Quick-Step riders did their good deed for the day and pushed the stranded vehicle back off the wall, one of Lampaert’s teammates apparently getting into the driver’s seat to lend a hand.
It was all caught on camera, Lampaert writing: “Forza Wolfpack. We turned around to help to get this man on the road again! Probably wouldn’t be possible with a bunch of climbers.”
And just in time to get a cheer from the other pro team seen in the third video riding in the opposite direction…

“The cyclists didn’t seem to be pushing my van hard enough and it took several minutes to get it off the wall, making me late in collecting my daughter from a birthday party. I couldn’t bend over and push with them, because I was wearing a short skirt and had been in such a hurry that I’d forgotten to put any panties on. If they spent less time cycling up mountains, they would have more energy to help people. I mean, it’s not as if they pay road tax,” said the attractive, curvy 26 year old motorist.

“The lazy lycra clad louts took several minutes to push my car off the wall. No backbone. Some of them were foreign as well. Probably came over on dinghys. Bring back national service I say. If bikes had number plates, I would have reported them. I only crashed because I didn’t see that young lad on his bike and had to swerve late. Bet he had a knife as well. The streets aren’t safe. And yet they want to crack down on elderly drivers and rural pubs I’d only had a couple of whiskies and two pints at the golf club. People need to listen to Farage,” said the 72 year old ex colonel.
