Van Rysel has issued a recall of RCR PRO Ultegra & RCR PRO Dura Ace Bikes sold by Decathlon, due to the risk that the outer carbon layers of the bicycle wheels can delaminate during use.
The affected bikes are fitted with Swiss Side HADRON2 Classic 500 and HADRON2 Ultimate 500 bicycle wheels.
This follows safety recall notices issued by DT Swiss, Swiss Side’s wheel manufacturing partner, for certain Hadron wheel models earlier this year.
DT Swiss said that “Analysis of a small number of reported incidents involving bicycle wheels from the ERC product families has shown that spontaneous delamination (detachment of the outer carbon layers) can occur in the rim flange area of the model series mentioned.
“The rim bed is not affected by this delamination but is also damaged as a result of the structural weakening. This form of delamination leads to considerable structural weakening and even total failure of the rim.”

The Office for Produce Safety and Standards have warned that “the product presents a serious risk of injuries as the wheel rims may fail during use.”
Swiss Side is recalling the following batches of Swiss Side Hadron wheels.
- HADRON² All road 450
- HADRON² All road 450 Ultimate
- HADRON² Classic 500
- HADRON² Ultimate 500
- HADRON³ Classic 550
- HADRON³ Classic 650
Only wheels sold from 01 August 2024 onwards with a T Swiss ID number of 2740000 or higher are affected by this recall.
You can find our how to check your DT Swiss Wheels here.
Hadron wheel models 380, 625, 680, 800 and 850 are NOT included in this recall, nor are Hadron3 Ultimate models manufactured in DT Swiss’s Polish facility.
> How does a product recall work in the bike industry?
Swiss Side said “in-depth quality checks by DT Swiss have revealed manufacturing concerns similar to those previously identified in DT Swiss’s own ERC/CRC/HEC models, which have been recalled. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, we issue this recall.”
If you do have these bikes or wheels, you should stop using them immediately and check the serial numbers (both front and rear wheels) on the DT Swiss website.
