Rapha has updated its Brevet collection, introducing increased storage, a revised fit, a new chamois and updated reflective stripe detailing. Rapha says the updated collection offers a “performance edge” without compromising comfort, with a greater emphasis on the demands of ultra-racing. The range is available now, with prices starting at £16 for accessories and rising to £260 for the Cargo Bib Shorts III.

Rapha describes its Brevet collection as “endurance cycling apparel for long-distance riding, ultra-racing and bikepacking adventures combining all-day comfort, reflective visibility and practical storage”. The latest updates remain rooted in long-distance riding, but place a greater emphasis on the growing world of ultra-endurance racing.

Ultan Coyle, Rapha’s Chief Creative Officer and two-time TCR finisher, says:Brevet is built around a simple idea: over long distances, comfort and speed are not opposites. They rely on each other. Comfort keeps you moving. Speed helps you cover ground efficiently. The work has been to find the balance between the two, so the rider feels supported hour after hour, day after day. It is kit for the long haul, when the finish line might be days away rather than hours.”

The new pieces feature increased storage, a new chamois, and refined detailing, while retaining the range’s signature horizontal stripe design. The stripes are reflective on all pieces and have a new perforation and dot-style pattern, which Rapha says are “significantly lighter and more flexible than their older counterparts, allowing greater movement across the chest for added comfort”.

The Brevet Cargo Bib Shorts III (£260) are the most interesting of the updated products, described as the brands “lightest ever cargo bib shorts”. They are constructed from “lightweight, durable, high-performance Italian fabrics”, with the main body of the shorts made from 64% recycled material.

The Cargo Bib Shorts III now feature four pockets – one on each leg and two at the lower back – along with a new chamois said to deliver the comfort needed for the world’s most demanding ultra-endurance events. The women’s version also includes a nature break system.

To pair with the carbo bib shorts, there are two updated jerseys – the Brevet Merino Jersey III (£195) and the Brevet Lightweight Jersey III (£160).

The Merino Jersey III is a wool layer designed for changeable conditions, combining Rapha Performance Merino (RPM) with recycled polyester for natural thermoregulation and odour resistance, while the Lightweight Jersey III is aimed at hot-weather riding, using “ultra-lightweight, fast-drying fabrics” to manage heat and moisture.

Both jerseys feature increased storage with Rapha’s new Brevet Air Pockets – a “floating” five pocket system (three open and two zipped) that lifts away from the body when loaded and works with an integrated mesh panel to improve airflow and reduce heat build-up on the lower back, according to the brand.

The fit has also been revised, with a nod to a growing focus on speed. It now features a shorter body than before, and riders are advised to stick to their usual Pro Team or Classic size.

Also newly launched is the updated Brevet Wind Gilet III (£140), which is described as “a resilient, high-visibility barrier against wind and road spray with a two-way zipper for easy access and temperature control”. It features its own integrated storage pocket for easy storage when not in use.

The Brevet Packable Backpack (£90) is a new addition to the range allowing you to carry extra cargo on the move whether you’re commuting, riding to a campsite or picking up essentials mid-ride. It has a 10-litre capacity, Rapha’s signature Brevet reflective stripe and its own internal pocket that is said to compress down small enough to fit in a jersey pocket.

Speaking on the range as a whole, Transcontinental Race (TCR) champion Victor Bosoni said, “What I love most about the new Rapha Brevet range is how it reduces mental load during ultra-distance riding. When you spend entire days and nights on the bike, you need equipment you never have to question. Comfort, practicality, layering, visibility – everything simply works so you can focus entirely on moving forward and enjoying the journey”.
