Writing in the British Medical Journal, Professor Scarlett McNally made the case for exercise and active travel being a "miracle cure" that "improves physical and mental health and reduces demands on NHS services and the need for social care"
The Public Accounts Committee, which examines the value for money of government projects, concluded the "Department for Transport is not on track to meet its objectives to increase rates of active travel by 2025"
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport councillors claim “sense of balance” lost as country spends record levels on active travel
The former cyclocross and mountain bike champion said that she has seen “large sums of money” spent on bureaucracy while “inexpensive, creative projects that value people” were stifled
On Cycle to School Week, Sustrans' Head of Behaviour Change Chris Bennett says children and families are being "deterred from their right to cycle"
New statistics showing a 5% fall in cycling from last year should be a “wake-up call for the government”, according to Cycling UK
Data shows 11% more cycling levels over pre-pandemic numbers and 23% more since 2013, with traffic levels also decreasing
Active travel accounted for 20% of all activity, with 3.2 million more people cycling and walking in England in 2022 over the previous year, according to UK Government
