The DHB Trail Equinox MTB gloves give a great bar feel through their reinforced palms, offer useful windproofing, and generally do a great job for an impressive price. They could use a better sweat wipe, but for the price and performance, it’s hard to complain.

Full-on winter gloves are too much for a lot of the UK winter, and the Trail Equinox steps in with a simple windproofing and a fleece lining on the upper. They’re constructed from a minimal amount of sections, but the loose-ish fit is just right when you’re gripping the bar.

The sizing is accurate too. They pull on instead of using Velcro, but while there’s a reasonable stretch on the cuff, they could use a tag to help you wriggle them on.

The fingers have silicone designs for good lever grip, and the logo on the side is reflective.

The Trail Equinox can easily fend of branches or brambles, and they feel both light and breathable – you don’t start sweating even on relatively warm winter days. They stay comfy when it’s cold and wet, too, and stay pretty warm even when soaked – they’re not waterproof.

The bar feel is direct, as padding on the palm is minimal, which I find great for trail use – less good is the sweat wipe, which isn’t really that absorbent.

The dhb Trail Equinox MTB is a great all round trail glove – not too thin for cold days, not too thick for mild days and just right for most days – at a really good price. There’s nothing sophisticated, fancy or great about any one aspect of them, but they pretty much just get on with it and work.
