The Mons Royale Sierra Sports Bra is comfy underwear for the modestly endowed rider, ideal for wearing year-round, and is priced much the same as other merino sports bras.

The Sierra Sports bra is a pull-on design with a racer back, which doesn’t interfere with pack straps, and an inch-wide elastic band around the base, which is perfectly comfortable. The fabric is lightweight 140gsm merino wool (83%) with 13% nylon and 4% elastane, and it feels super-soft against the skin. The front is double layered for support – note, this is minimal so I wouldn’t recommend this bra for big chested lasses – with removable cups for a bit of added shape (and to hide pert nipples in the cold!). The back panel is a more open mesh weave for increased breathability. Non-chafing flat stitched seams complete the spec.

Because merino is breathable and wicking and dries quickly the Sierra feels less sweaty than conventional synthetic sports bras, while in colder weather it feels warm and cosy, thanks to wool’s natural temperature regulation. It’s perfect to take on a multi-day riding trip too because merino’s odour resistance will prevent it ponging.

The Sierra Sports Bra I tested was the spring /summer 17 version, Mons Royale are now into their autumn/winter collection and whilst the bra is the same in its specification the colourways have changed slightly – check them out here.
