    Something weird is happening.

    Something weird is happening.

My team has just been updated to what it should have been for yesterday. I haven’t made any transfers today.

However the points for yesterday’s stage haven’t been updated.

Hi Folks Viviani appears to have scored 0 but is in fourth place i the sprints comp?

    Am I missing something?

Where are you seeing this? I’m seeing Gaviria, Ackermann, Demare, Moschetti, Yates. I actually don’t see Viviani’s name anywhere in that jersey comp.

At one stage Viviani was 4th in the points classification with the 18 points he scored on Stage 2.

However it now appears that these points taken off him as an additional punishment.

    My team for today –

    POGACAR
    McNULTY
    PHILIPSEN
    HALVORSEN
    HUFFMAN
    HIGUITA

    Hmmmm

Somehow my transfers didn’t get made.

Rather than Schachmann, Uran, McNulty I had Sagan, Jakobsen & Walscheid.

    Maybe I didn’t confirm my transfers.no

I was hoping to keep Sagan in but screwed up on the budget.

At least Huffman is in the break wink

Some surprising names in the break – Ballerini (he could stay all the way) & Luke Rowe (is he there to help out later?).

Pedersen dropped off the back at the end yesterday as did Storer.

Looks a strong break. Can it stay away and win?

Skujins did on a very similar route in 2017, although the finish was easier then.

Could be a blessing Minardi. I know he won on the flat yesterday but he’s hardly covered himself in glory on the rolling races this year. We’ll see.

It was Sagan or another sprinter. Sagan has more chance of finishing top20, is leading the points classification and could get an assist for Schachmann or Grosschartner. He has also been training at altitude recently, and today’s stage is HIGH.

Anyway he is out of my team now.

Almost forgot all about this race…just about squeezed my team in with minutes to spare. Not sure i’ve Done a decent job or not.

I have messed up a bit, I was using a budget of 150 to plan my team for today’s stage and can’t afford to bring in the riders I intended and keep Sagan. indecision

I’m looking at the Giro website now and in the intermediate sprint classifications for stage 2 have 10-6-3-2-1 for both, with 3 riders listed on the first one as having 0 points. Weird discrepency with Frapporti showing 10 and 3 points for the sprints, but only on 12 total for the stage. Your guess is as good as mine. I might peruse the Garibaldi at lunch to see if there’s any fine print.

I found the rules for intermediate sprints.

Only the 1st Int. Sprint counts towards the points competition, the first 8 riders score – 12,8,6,5,4,3,2,1

There are only bonus seconds at the 2nd Intermediate Sprint 3,2,1 seconds.

There is a separate intermediate sprint competition, the 1st 5 riders score – 10,6,3,2,1

Unless Demare was going for the intermediate sprint competition, he was wasting his time at the 2nd intermediate sprint today.

    The intermediate sprint

The intermediate sprint points are a little bit confusing in this race.

It looks like only the first intermediate sprint counts for the points competition and the points scored are different to the sprints competition.

Yesterday the first sprint scored 12, 8, 6,5,4,3,2,1 for the first 8 riders, these count to the points competition.

The first 5 riders scored 10,6,4,2,1 in the sprints competition.

At the second intermediate sprint, points were only awarded in the sprints competition but riders also get bonus seconds -3,2,1.

Does anyone know for sure how it works ?

Stg 3 last few kms look interesting over the sandbar, headwind & echelons anyone…

Apparently there are trees lining the final kms of the race so unlikley there are echelons at that point but there could be earlier.

    Stage 1 scoring issues;

The ToC official site says the Young Rider’s jersey is for riders “under age 25”, which to me means Halvorsen should be in white. Can anyone enlighten me on this matter?

I scored according to the early PCS results. Apparently Grosschartner must have had a crash or mechanical issue in the last 3km, and so is now 8th on GC. I will fix this tomorrow.

Yes I saw that about young riders too but it looks like it is anyone born after Jan 1st 1997 this year.

I guess they didn’t update the details on the Jersey page of the website.
