B1022 is a fast road for idiot drivers. Easier to overtake when you are 1 bike length, so no justification for it. You are simply cyclists in their way. I did feel yesterday when driving (blush) that there were too many people in a hurry. Quite what they are in a hurry for, I’m not sure. The only real answer is a camera and submissions.

I’m sure none of us want to

I’m sure none of us want to ride with a camera but it is pretty much required now.

    Do you mean ‘pedal spanner’?

Do you mean ‘pedal spanner’? Either way, I thought if you can use a spanner, a normal one would fit – used that in the past (plus a long metal tube I borrowed from the local builders merchant to slot over the spanner then stand on the tube to get my wife’s pedal off !)

    They should be greased. Are
They should be greased then. Are you definitely turning correct direction ?
If you have a socket set, does it have any extra attachments? If not, you could buy some allen key (and others) for the socket set separately. This should give you enough leverage.
Or if you have any mole grips, that might allow more leverage with the current key.

    Unless you accept that

Unless you accept that closing a large open space to certain individuals is in no way equivalent to closing a shop to certain individuals, then I don’t see a way forward here.

You can write to them but since it is private land they don’t have to do anything and I suspect they will say they are taking action to protect their staff and volunteers and direct you to the highways authority.

    Very easy to control access
Very easy to control access to a shop as there is just one entrance to use, so you could prevent banned people from entering. Pretty hard to do anything in a wide open large space in the current climate.

Is it a permissive path ?

Never heard of those before !

I wonder how they feel when riding and whether you can detect the join each revolution.

So it’s a permissive path and
So it’s a permissive path and they can do as they choose.
I don’t see they why the staff should put up with abuse and the options for dealing with this are now limited.

    Get puncture resistant tyres
Get puncture resistant tyres or even tubeless.
Get a lift or taxi if you get a puncture.

Although if the bike is laid down on its side, it should be easy to remove the wheel.

Just illustrates why lots of cyclists don’t use shared paths.

David – are you the one with the video of you passing several hundred cars in the area but somehow you were blamed for ‘holding everyone up ‘ ?!

Chris Hoy was on radio 4 recently recounting that when he first used them, he got into bother, so he thought he would lean on the fence next to him to get him out of trouble. The fence turned out to be a hedge…
