Comp is now open. 80 transfers for 16 races.

A lot of races aren’t anouncing routes or releasing profiles to limit potential spectators, so be aware, some of this info will be last minute and not as complete as normal. Only quick fire races are this weekend, so don’t forget about Kuurne after Omloop.

That power bomb for MvtP on

That power bomb for MvtP on the final climb was something else. Alaphillipe getting the taste of his own medicine there.

Damn. Got a whiff of a crash for Pogacar yesterday so risked leaving him out. Crash confirmed but obviously nothing much.

I hinted at this a few days

I hinted at this a few days ago replying to Dr Winston. You get very little feel for the one dayers – massive changes in starting lineup race to race, lots of transfers and sometimes weeks between races. There often doesn’t seem as much skill as the stage races where the transfer budget is a lot tighter and strategy is key. I have spent way longer planning my Paris-Nice team than my Strade Bianchi one, mainly because four of my team will be pretty well the same for everyone (MvdP, WvA, JA & TP) and three other spots were filled by Kuurne riders (GvA, Wellens & Stybar) leaving only one place for a rider under £6 mill – throw a dart at the board time!
Having said all that, I do still enjoy playing them! I think part of the problem is the emergence of ‘must have’ riders like MvdP & WvA for the bigger races which limits selection options. Hopefully some of the races they are missing will allow more creative team selection. My only thought for a possible change would be to separate the one dayers from the  stage races, to create a third season long competition (Standard, Purist & One Day). It would create more work though & I will still be happy to play in the current format!

    The problem with races like

The problem with races like this is that you really have to back the three favourites which you know everybody will have. so how to differenciate your team without taking huge risks?

There are no rewards for doing it, no prizes for stage wins and no goal. I’m fast coming to the conclusion that its all a bit pointless.

Is it me or is the game a bit stale? I enjoy the chess like strategy of a 3 week GT still but I am losing interest in the rest. The game is not adding to my interest in the sport anymore. How does everybody else feel?

    I’d appreciate your comments.

    Steve.

I’m adding in riders down to

I’m adding in riders down to do Strade Bianche, but haven’t yet removed the riders from Kuurne. Don’t want a panic if players get emails saying their riders are out only to replace them with someone not confirmed, or swap out someone not currently down who becomes available again. I’ll remove riders when all rosters have been finalised.

    It is a totally different

It is a totally different dynamic to the stage races where you can get a feel for the race and get into nice rhythm. The one dayers just don’t have that, especially when the next race can have a totally different field. The plus side is that if you have a disaster (Omloop in my case!)you have enough transfers to transform your team overnight!

I won the autum races last year, but I don’t think I picked any better than anybody else. Each race has a big pool of talent…just pick and hope with many riders.

So hard to predict theses one

So hard to predict theses one day races. I think if we can get pts for just four of our riders it’s a good result.
