The driver was banned as a result of a string of road traffic offences committed whilst attempting to flee the police. At one point in the pursuit the driver did nearly hit a cyclist, but it’s hard to imagine that was a significant contributor to the overall sentence.

“drove over the speed limit through two red lights and a no entry sign, nearly hitting a cyclist and lamp post”

Was probably the near miss with the lamp post that got him the ban.

A visit to Sherborne with its pedestrianised High Street (Cheap Street).  “You’re killing our trade, how will we get our deliveries??”

At 4 pm sharp, someone pops out and drops the barriers at the top end and before you know it’s back in your boxes, pedestrians and all the “it’s only for a minute” parking (prohibited ’til 6 pm) gets started – the Google car’s last visit gives a flavour.

    Cambridge: Mill Road Bridge

Cambridge: Mill Road Bridge bus gate fines ‘the worst decision ever made

Readers have shared their thoughts on the bus gate installed on Mill Road bridge which has seen thousands of fines issued

No clickbait was harmed in the making of this article. Actually the comments (on effectively comments) are pretty supportive of the ongoing closure.

4,600 penalty charge notices (PCNs) were handed out in just under two months – one to remember whenever the “cyclists / RLJ” trope is wheeled out.

Cornwall café staff abused by ungrateful customers over parking charges

The café was trying to save its customers money after introducing a new system

It said: “Please be aware we have sadly had to make the decision to withdraw the discount offer of one hour parking (£1.20) deducted off your bill that we gave to customers if they spent over £10 in the Cafe.

“We have had a difficult few weeks with customers being rude to our staff over the offer where the terms were clearly written and displayed in various areas around the cafe and near the parking machine. Today has been the final straw so to speak.

    Drivers warned over parking

Drivers warned over [scam] parking tickets that can take every penny in your bank

Anyone paying the ‘fines’ could end up with a bill for thousands of pounds

I’d have thought a clear conscience about where (and for how long) you’re parked would be a key factor in knowing what’s going to be a scam.
