drivers commonly think they’re entitled to go through a red light after giving way to an emergency vehicle, as though they have completely failed to understand the purpose of the red light

He should move to Lancashire. A second or so after they turn red is accepted as OK around here

Newspaper (and driver) misrepresents ‘Driver fined for going through red light’ as ‘Driver fined for giving way to an ambulance’.  I seem to remember someone on here recently mentioning how drivers commonly think they’re entitled to go through a red light after giving way to an emergency vehicle, as though they have completely failed to understand the purpose of the red light.  Somewhat oddly, the driver blames his error on his having had to wait for another car behind the ambulance to go past.

Went past Stony Lane this

Went past Stony Lane this morning, a couple of drivers had tried their luck and got stuck. Surprisingly not German bahnsturmers – twas a Corsa and something vaguely Hyundai-looking. 

Back up towards Ringwood there were two cars in the hedge having taken out a telegraph pole. 50mph stretch and based on where they ended up I’d imagine it was black ice and straight on til morning.

Cars abandoned in floodwater on Stony Lane in Christchurch. 

poor old drivers – assuming you don’t run into yet another watery hazard, it’s a nine mile detour to avoid this spot – imagine weighing it up and deciding to chance it, there’s no helping some people.  

Question: I have no idea if car insurance normally covers this sort of thing.
