A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Traders working on survival
Traders working on survival plan as collapsing cliff road could stay closed for years
The coast road to the west looks like being closed for the foreseeable and the locals are wondering what to do next
Gosh guys, what have got here – pokey little seaside village off the beaten track, now on a no through road
“The town should also be marketed as a destination, rather than a place to pass through.”
could be on to something there… there must be a way that people could get to the town, we need them to come in large numbers in the season and have an enjoyable time, there must be something, if only we could see it…
And then back to Earth with a bump:
“It was suggested that the district council be pressed to make an immediate change in car parking charges, with two hours of early-morning free parking…and to segregate car parks into “short term” and “long term” to encourage parking in the centre of the town.”

Or better still, not have any cars parked all over what looks like a very nice market square?

local councillor demands
local councillor demands Network Rail reimburse “residents” who to pay to park in public car parks, whilst track maintenance closed level crossings and access to boat yards…and presumably free parking https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/23337641.suffolk-network-rail-should-repay-residents-closures/
but it should be noted theres plenty of free parking for cars in Woodbridge, the “residents” just had to use their legs to walk abit further, whilst the county council are supposedly trying to create a mini-holland in the town, albeit I think in an area where theres going to be little benefit from it.

A Kia, so we’re more in luminous, empty city centre, perhaps the 4 gorgeous companions, not quite sweeping ocean road or gnarly mountain track territory?

Nonsense, I learnt last night at the cinema that if you get an electric (and it has to be electric) Kia *, then the traffic parts, allowing you an unfettered trip.
For some reason, they also included a cropped shot of an ebike going along – maybe that was some sort of test like the one with the gorilla.
* actually it might not be a Kia, I was laughing too much at the absurd scene of no traffic that I failed to take in the actual make !

Was reminding myself just the other day how often the road are blocked for maintenance / utility work or building. Or when someone crashed. It’s somewhere, every day in Edinburgh. But “wasting space on bus lanes / bonkers cycle infra” and “restricting our right to drive”.
Mind you as rich_cb pointed out elsewhere, motor vehicles are such a space- inefficient mode that it takes very little to bring flow down to a glacial speed. That’s not what the car ads showed us!

Hull City Council has indicated bus lanes are likely to return to use at peak times only. Councillor Mike Ross, the council leader, said last week: “The clear message we got from last summer’s transport survey was that most people wanted to see a return to peak-hours bus lanes. We have listened and now we’re taking action.”

Drivers and their problems I hear you say? According to a taxi driver’s diagnosis of why Hull is so congested it possibly comes as no surprise as to the first point that he makes…
