A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

I can imagine that steak
I can imagine that steak could be quite hard to get hold of – there could be an online system to show the situation in each branch – rare, medium rare

Some of the courts still
Some of the courts still haven’t got the message about “we’re for the drivers”:
Driver on M25 disqualified after losing control of his car.

Vandals write off driver’s car after breakdown on the A35 near Lyndhurst
Mr Squier lamented the theft of handmade Dolly Anna (not at all cursed – see article pic), gifted by his aunt on a rare visit to her in Yorkshire two weeks earlier.
“The claim is now settled and I have another car now, a BMW 520, but it still hurts,” Mr Squier said.
“The car was a rare model which I had hoped to keep for several more years.

Once you’ve had your hooky steak you’re going to want to remove all traces of evidence, clearly.

I struggle, for differing reasons, to understand how detergent and meat are easy things to fence.
Wanna buy some steak? You’ll er need to wash up afterwards, wontchya?
Maybe placing so much reliance on self-service tills doesn’t turn out to be quite the genius cost saver after all?

Not a signal on a 5 V line to a CPU somewhere politely requesting a shutdown. On a combustion powered car, it should shut off power to the solenoid controlling a normally closed valve on the fuel near the injector rail. On an electric car, shut off power to normally open solenoids on all poles of power to the motors or controller.
In the UK, its functionality should be tested as part of the MOT.

Actually I think this may be
Actually I think this may be the first news of an under-reported epidemic:
BBC wrote:A driver has told how he was “kidnapped” by his runaway electric car and forced to dodge red lights and roundabouts. Also, another reason why 20mph limits are completely barking. Imagine the unfair penalty points accrued (and other cars and cyclists he’d have mown down) if the default was 20mph.
BBC wrote:Brian Morrison, 53, from Glasgow said he was heading home from work on Sunday night when he said his brand new MG ZS EV became stuck at 30mph.

Just saw that – was still
Just saw that – was still dithering over whether it should be “trapped in our houses” or “cars in houses” or here…
I liked:
Mr Morrison has mobility issues, so he was unable to escape the car travelling at 30mph by jumping out.He added: “It might not sound like it is very fast, but when you have no control over the speed and you’re completely stuck inside, it’s terrifying.”
I’ve got a vision of a Speed remake, a la Father Ted…
