Following my comment below, it does appear that the government’s own website has conflicting current documents on whether the ‘Only’ sign is required or not.

So if the government does not know, how are the public supposed to. That many drivers still going through indicates that the signage is not fit for purpose.

You can be as flood-proof as you like, it’s not going to stop you getting swept away downstream and being yet another driver for over stretched fire crews to have to deal with.  Or am I getting too  cynical?
