And there are points, which you can claim for your story. The person with the most points wins a table for four at The Farmer’s Dog (second prize : two tables?).

The scoring system will probably evolve, in fact suggestions for additional points can be made, but for starters:

Score one point for each of:

Clear picture of car on its roof or side

    30 mph limit /residential road

    Audi, BMW or “super-car”

    Article doesn’t mention a driver

Good points. I live in Peterborough and the local rural roads are similar. They aren’t designed for the high calibre drivers that live in the area.
If you are driving an SUV or VW Golf at 90mph along a straight, narrow country road, the last thing you need is a sharp bend. And don’t get me started on pheasants and deer. Bloody ridiculous. What are the govt doing to rectify the situation? Nothing!

Picture shows crash in Bitterne that flipped after crash

Despite the fact the car flipped, police have confirmed that only minor injuries were reported.

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: “This was a single car collision reported at 5.40pm yesterday. Minor injuries were sustained.”

That kind of thing really sticks in my craw.

(East-) Lincolnshire roads are perfect traps for the unwary / tired or distracted driver. Sparsely populated countryside with long straight flat sections “begging you” to put your foot down – but turns when reached are often sharp turns. Plus the odd steep level change going over dykes. The edges of the roads are often just drops into ditches as here. Run off and there’s no coming back!

Flat open land gives exposure to side-winds. And when you reach an urban area oftentimes the A-road runs right through the “narrow streets” of the centre.

And for cyclists – lots of heavy transport and agricultural machinery about.

Driver to face court after flipping car and fleeing in Wiltshire village

The collision involved a Suzuki Ignis and a Vauxhall Astra – with the Suzuki overturning onto its roof on impact.

The driver of the Vauxhall fled the scene, leaving their bumper and number plate in the road. Officers launched a drone to locate the suspect.

They were found a short time later, and subsequently served a Notice of Intended Prosecution for the offences of careless driving, failing to stop and failing to report a collision.

    A term lifted from aviation

A term lifted from aviation whereby an aircraft is said to plough in during a crash into fields, creating a ploughed field effect. The phrase is also frequently used in a toungue-in-cheek fashion for airfield watering holes. i.e. The Plough Inn, often with the protruding empennage (tail section) of a downed aircraft in lieu of a pub sign.

Clearly cars get skittish in LTNs because they’re obviously a threat to people’s mobility…

20 mph, double parking residential, reporting implies self driven.
Went past the scene myself when it was on back of recovery truck. Noted the damage to other vehicles but genuinely could not figure out what had happened.
