Vuelta Stage 2: Pontevedra – Baiona. Alto Do Monte Da Groba

Good stage yesterday with some interesting results, especially with the likes of Betancur and a few other potential GC guys being dropped before the finish line, but today the real fun starts.

Flat-ish stage today with a summit finish, will the GC guys look to put down a marker, will the likes of Valverde/Rodriguez try to take some time bonuses and make up lost time on Nibali or will Astana look to get rid of the leaders jersey now and let a breakaway go?

    Should be an interesting day.

The only disappointmet for me yesterday was Intxausti being dropped from the Movistar train……and I didn’t really expect Choo-Choo to do anything as he’s in there purely for breaks on the open road and LuLu is there for stage wins.

Everyone else performed more or less as expected and pretty pleased with 194th considering I picked for today in mind and can bank 2 transfers straight away

    Team for today

    Nibali
    Brajkovic
    Zubeldia
    Uran
    Henao
    Valverde
    Intxausti
    LuLuSanchez
    Txurruka

The Giro is personally my favourite but the Vuelta is always fun. With the likes of Betancur losing a couple of minutes, Intxausti losing five minutes and a few other strong riders like De Gendt and Westra losing time its set up nicely for some attacking riding.

What I’m not sure of is at what point the guys possibly targeting the KoM will go on the attack. With only the 3rd cat available to the break today the jersey will go to the stage winner. The same goes for the next few days too, not many intermediate climbs on offer.
