So whats everyone doing and whats everyones thinking for today? Anyone made any specific transfers? Ive personally left it the same, my biggest problem is gonna be making transfers the next few days as Im away from this evening.

Half my team yesterday was based on today. Although Blythe and Nava ruined my hopes for either Haas or Phinney being in Pink (countback would put Nava or Blythe in if either of there teams win by a big enough margin, so I believe). But yes Haas and Phinney were for today and tomorrow, well all week for Phinney. Zandio for Skys points, same with Wyanants for Rabo, who I think could do something on one of these undulating stages, or go in a break.

So I expect a solid score today, All my riders could score, but I expect Sky, BMC, Radioshack, Garmin, Rabobank and OPQS to top 10, unsure on Lampre, Androni and FDJ and my biggest worry is a lack of a greenedge or Cannondale rider, who should also top 10 along with Astana. (at least some guaranteed points from Bouhanni, Cav and Nizzolo for the points comp)

Cattaneo gets 7 for stage 2
Cattaneo gets 7 for stage 2 not the 5 he currently has.
    5 for stage + 2 for Youth =7

I think so too…4 for pts comp and 1 for youth comp makes 5.

Don’t 2 riders from the same team, get the same number of points? :/

    Danny Pate Sky 10
    Sergio Luis Henao Sky 18
    Salvatore Puccio Sky 25
    Bradley Wiggins Sky 19
    Dario Cataldo AR Sky 17
    Rigoberto Uran KM Sky 16

    Yes
Puccio 10 for stage + 10 for 1st in Gen Class + 5 for youth
Wiggins 10 for stage + 9 for second in Gen Class etc etc

    It’s not just about the
It’s not just about the transfers, although that is a valid point. If you boxed clever today, any gains would have been nullified by the low gains from doing well. Not everybody is bad at TTTs. I’m not asking for a massive score just something that is equal to other stages. If it was up to me the TTT would not be in any tour, but that’s another story. I just think that if the TTT exists, the scoring should be reviewed.
Love the Giro, with or without the game, but love playing (and losing) it.

    The impact of the extra
The impact of the extra transfers will be minimal.

Penalty transfers cost 10 points so if I had used two today to bring in Puccio and Wiggins I’d be up in points terms and able to take the 20 point hit today to make the same changes as I’m doing now with my four transfers. I could even make another two if I wanted to and as long as I picked scoring riders I’d be OK.

The saved transfers aren’t so beneficial, I just used it as a rest day because I’m crap at TTTs. In hindsight picking Sky and Movistar riders for today would have worked out better than sticking with what I had.

In which case can I make a point.
If you were to be able to arrange your team to try to predict 1,2,3,4 and then 5 and put two members in each of your first four and then one in the fifth team and you were correct, (possible but unlikely) then across the line scores would total 20+18+16+14+6=74. However if you predicted 1,2,3,4,5 yesterday you would have got 132. This seems a little odd as each are equally as difficult. Plus yesterday you would also been guaranteed 1…5 in GC plus, plus etc.
Maybe for future comps it could be looked at. Maybe 20,15,12 for 1,2,3 and then 7…1.
Looking at the forum it seems a number of people have made no changes today to save four for tomorrow knowing that a bad day would only probably leave them about 50 in arrears, whereas a bad day yesterday would have left them 150+ in arrears.
Before you ask, no I haven’t arranged my team like that, but the thought did cross my mind and yesterday was not great but not a disaster. I had Cav, Goss and Nizz with one eye on today

    Just to back this up.
The two people who finished =second today did so by having two riders each from sky, movistar and astana, which is picking 1,2,3 but scored a total of 86. Picking 1,2,3 on any other stage, just for crossing the line would have been 90, apart from any extras. Sorry this is NOT a rest day, it is stage two, and anybody who adjusted their team for today (probably using 2 transfers) has not benefited from their skill, judgement or luck, and lost out to people who have saved their transfers until tomorrow, safe in the knowledge that even a total ‘mare’ today would have not lost them any real ground in the overall. Anybody who left this one to save transfers for tomorrow has a bit of an advantage (although nobody knows if it will all come together tomorrow or not).
