I apologise now for posting yet anothet wheelset based thread as no doubt everyone is sick to death of them by now.
However having recently asking for advice on which wheelset to go for i now realise what i really need to know is the real world advantages of certain elements to make an informed choice.
My criteria is for a carbon trek emonda, good for climbing, fast rolling, aero looks(maybe), good for 50mile+ sportive/club rides, coming in at £250-£400ish with finance available.
I have several ideas but niggles stopping me press the buy button:
Cero ar30 – £379 ticks all the boxes but narrow rim width, does this make a harsh ride?
Compag eurus – £440 looks great but aluminium spokes = harsh ride?
Zipp30- £420 looks fantastic but seems to be getting average reviews
Rs81 c35 – love the deeper profile but concerned it lacks zip and climbing ability of others due to extra weight.
Zonda/fulcrum 3 – under £300 is the lower cost down to inferior hubs or harshness? So basically
Does rim width massively affect comfort?
Are the hubs vastly different in holding speed and smoothness?
Is an additional 200/300g going to make a vast difference?Ksyium are obvious choice but not overkeen on looks and i have nearly gone for dura ace c24 but potential wrath from the missus has put that one on hold.
Want to sort it over the weekend so can enjoy them through the summer. I know im making a meal of it but think i have over thought it all so now hit a wall, im 14 stone in the wrong places so im more than aware that they dont make yellow jerseys in my size! Just want some wheels that look cool and feel great.
If anyone is still reading then please feel free to offer any much needed advice. Cheers
