This week’s Five Cool Things brings a limited run of Lusso bib shorts, an affordable helmet from Lazer, plus smart storage solutions from Fidlock, Topeak and Proviz. Here are the key details before the full reviews land on road.cc in the coming weeks…

Lazer’s Tonic KinetiCore Helmet is designed to combine comfort, ventilation and a lightweight design with Lazer’s fully integrated KinetiCore rotational impact protection — all at an affordable price.

28 ventilation holes should channel air from the front to the rear for sufficient temperature regulation, while eyewear can be docked in specially shaped slots at the front of the helmet, which is always useful.

Available in seven colourways and four sizes, Charlotte Broughton has been testing the white lid and her full report will be landing on the site soon.

This saddle bag is designed to carry all the essentials with 0.4-litre capacity and a roll-top closure. It shouldn’t look bulky under your saddle and attaches using Fidlock’s PINCLIP technlogy, which is a magnetic mount that provides a secure, play-free connection and makes attachment and removal quick and easy, according to the brand.

It’s also made from waterproof materials and rated to IPX5, so will keep contents dry in wet conditions.

If fishing gels out of your back pocket mid-ride feels like too much effort, or if taping jelly babies to your top tube isn’t quite the look you’re going for, Topeak may have a solution.

The Fastfuel Platform straps onto your top tube and holds gels or other ride snacks in place with an elastic cord. It also features a Fastfuel Cutter, which claims to make opening gels mid-ride that bit easier.

Jack Evans is testing it now, so check back soon to see if this gadget really does simplify fuelling.

We’re currently testing a pair of limited edition bib shorts from British brand Lusso — just 70 pairs of the Paragon Signature Bib Shorts are available this season.

Lusso describes them as offering a “lightweight feel with an abundance of stretch and light compression for unrestrictive riding comfort.” The design keeps seams to a minimum, and the legs feature a raw-cut finish.

The chamois is supplied by Elastic Interface, with an 8-hour comfort rating, according to the brand. The fabric is also cut from leftover materials as part of Lusso’s move towards a zero-waste production process.
