It's been another busy week at road.cc HQ, with plenty of winter gear coming our way as the temperatures are well and truly beginning to take a chillier turn. Here are five products that caught our eye before they went home with their reviewers...

Renowned for budget gear, Wiggle's in-house apparel brand dhb have gone high-end with these road shoes that have a full carbon sole. Designed to be lightweight and stiff, we weighed ours at just over 300g for a size 45 and there are plenty of features to keep your foot vented and comfortable, including a breathable synthetic upper and perforated sections across the shoe. They're available in just black or white and have two Velcro straps and an ATOP dial combined for a precision fit. Are they a shoe-in candidate for some of the best road kicks around the £100 price point? Matt Brett is trying them out now.

£299.99

Minoura FG220 Hybrid Roller.jpg

This hybrid roller allows you to mimic the natural feeling of rollers but on a more stable platform, giving you an in-between solution. The whole unit only weighs 6.5kg, making it easy to transport so you can use it for warming up prior to racing - it also comes with a bag to pack it in. A resistance load switch makes it easy to change the resistance, and the wheelbase compatibility is from 930 to 1,200mm so it's suitable for road, CX or mountain bikes. Fizik Luce S-Alloy Womens Saddle.jpg

This women's specific saddle from Fizik has a shorter length and a wider rear to better suit the female anatomy compared to a men's version. This is the first saddle from Fizik with a hole in the base to provide pressure relief, and to stiffen it up the rail system has been redesigned with a narrower meeting point between the two rails at the base. This alloy-railed version weighs 250g and is 270mm long, with a carbon-reinforced shell and central cut-out. Is it a perfect perch? Sarah Langridge has it on her steed now, with a verdict coming soon...

After cobbling together a few hundred quid during his student days off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story), Jack bought his first road bike at the age of 20 and has been hooked ever since.  He joined road.cc in 2017, having previously worked for 220 Triathlon magazine. Jack's preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking (the latter being another long story), and on Sunday afternoons he can often be found on an M5 service station indulging in his favourite post-race meal of 20 chicken nuggets, a sausage roll, caramel shortbread and a large strawberry milkshake.
