The Cannondale C-Cage bottle cage does just one job – holding your bottle – and does it particularly well.

The bottle cage has the simplest task of any bicycle component, but its importance shouldn't be underestimated. Anyone who has seen their bottles bounce out of their cages will appreciate that a good bottle cage is a wise investment.

The Cannondale C-Cage meets this requirement. It's moulded from a poly-resin material and is light at 40g. That's not superlight but Cannondale have used the extra material to design a cage that securely holds a water bottle in place over even the bumpiest roads.

Removing and inserting bottles is easy, the opening is wide and the chamfered edges help the bottle locate. It's an open design so the wings can expand a little, which makes sliding a bottle in much easier, while still keeping adequate pressure on the water bottle.

The C-Cage ticks all the boxes then. The only thing going against it is the branding: it's highly unlikely you'll be rushing to buy this cage unless you own a Cannondale bike to put it on. If such brand concerns don't worry you, the C-Cage is a good investment.

Verdict

Well-designed bottle cage that does its job well. Perhaps limited to Cannondale bicycle owners though.
