Tyre levers is tyre levers, right? Well, not quite. Some are better than others and the Shuttle 1.2 set are up there with the best. They’re a clever and unique set that perform really well.

Made from ‘engineering grade’ plastic (so, plastic then) the set comprises two levers. The short yellow one has a narrow tip to grab the first bead section and a spoke clip to hold it in place. Once that’s in you can work with the longer and wider black lever to unseat the bead the rest of the way round. The extra leverage makes even the toughest combinations simple to remove, and the bigger lever sits much easier in the hand than some of the more minimal offerings out there.

At eight quid a set they’re not cheap but the Shuttle 1.2 levers are among the best I’ve tried. If you struggle with standard sized levers then this set is a definite boon, as the long lever means you don’t have to lean as hard to make the tyre pop out. Even if you don’t struggle, you’ll still love ’em.

Verdict

Great quality and top performance. A lot to pay for tyre levers but you get your money’s worth.
