We’ve seen this before on the Tour de France, but it never fails to thrill – a cyclist jumping over the peloton.
It happened during today’s Stage 10, the first in the Alps, from Annecy to Le Grand Bornand, though this time the rider was on a BMX rather than mountain bike.

In 2013, French freeride mountain biker Romain Marandet jumped over a group including eventual winner Chris Froome of Team Sky during the 100th edition of the race.

And last year at the Tour of Poland, Red Bull-sponsored rider Szymon Godziek did a backflip over the peloton at the Tour de Pologne.

It’s not the most impressive occasion of an MTB rider gap jumping the TdF, which IMO goes to Dave Watson back in 2002 near the summit of the Col de Galibier, but this guy (Alexis Bosson) throwing a suicide-no-hander makes it stand out in my book.
Still surprised how anyone can mistake a Freeride / DH bike for a BMX though
