Paramedic bike stolen in City of London

London Ambulance Service response cycles are deployed in particularly congested areas of the capital

Police have asked the public to be on the lookout for a London Ambulance Service response cycle after one was stolen from the City of London. Cycle responders operate in busy areas which are difficult to travel through in a car or ambulance.

City of London Police’s PC Stuart Ford last night tweeted:

London Ambulance Service cycle responders use custom-built Specialized Rockhopper mountain bikes fitted with blue lights and a siren. The lightweight bikes feature a strengthened back wheel and stronger spokes, puncture-proof tyres, lights, pannier bags and water bottles.

Cycle responders are deployed for emergency calls in particularly congested areas of the capital as they are able to reach patients quickly and begin life-saving treatment while an ambulance is on the way.

They attend approximately 16,000 calls a year with an average response time of six minutes and resolve around 50 per cent of all incidents at the scene.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

There are no depths so deep, no crime so despicable that some idle, selfish berk won't give it a go.

They must have been racing to get to a polling station to vote 'Leave' before the polls closed

That would be a cool job. Cycling fast through traffic and saving lives.

No one told me such a job existed when I was young!
