The full programme of venues and dates for the 2010 Halfords Tour Series – featuring among others our very own Kuota-road.cc team – has been announced, with London’s Canary Wharf sure to provide a stunning backdrop when the ten-race competition gets underway next month.
The financial hub in the capital’s Docklands is one of four new venues confirmed for this year’s series, the others being Durham, Portsmouth and Kettering. They join the six venues returning from last year’s inaugural competition, Exeter, Southport, Kettering, Peterborough, Stoke-on-Trent and Woking.
Mick Bennett, Technical Director for the Halfords Tour Series, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many of our 2009 venues again choosing to host the Halfords Tour Series and with the addition of four new venues, including the showpiece curtain-raiser at Canary Wharf, the 2010 event promises to be even bigger and better than before.”
He added: “With the best cycling teams the UK has seen in many years bringing cycle racing back to High Streets around the country, I cannot wait for the 2010 Series to begin!”
Rob Hayles, team captain at Endura Racing, who led the Halfords Bikehut team to its series win last year, said: “This year’s Halfords Tour Series is going to be a spectacular one. With ten impressive venues and, this year’s televised Series will deliver some of the best racing seen yet on British soil.”
Races take place on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings other than Chester, which hosts its event on a Monday, with highlights broadcast on ITV4 at 7pm the following evening, giving road.cc readers an opportunity to cheer on the boys from the comfort of the sofa.
As well as the Tour Series race itself, each venue will be hosting a range of bike-related activities on the day of the event itself.
As co-sponsor of Kuota-road.cc, we’ll naturally be at the heart of the action, so look out for some exciting news on road.cc soon.
