Every time we publish a story about a black road bike, there are usually a fair few comments along the lines of "not another boring black bike". So to prove that the road bike industry is capable of offering more choices, here's a roundup of some of the most colourful 2016 road bikes.
So, which is your favourite?
Cannondale’s CAAD12 Disc comes in this bumblebee yellow for 2016, so you’re sure to stand out on the roads.
BMC has never been a company brave in the colour department, but it’s shaking that image in 2016 with an array of very colourful bikes
BMC’s most affordable carbon race bike, the TeamMachine SLR03
Spend a bit more and the TeamMachine SLR02 uses a higher grade carbon fibre, reducing weight and offering increased frame stiffness

Lapierre’s new Xelius SL Yellow Ultimate is the most colourful bike in the French bike company’s range
KTM, probably better known for its motorbikes, makes a huge range of road bikes and the Revelator is the top-end model. The company sponsors Team Marseille and this is the team edition bike
Stevens offers this Arcalis, an aero road bike, in this lime green, but other colours are available through its online configurator
Orbea was once famous for its orange race bikes back in the day, but there’s still definitely a flair for colour in its latest range. This Avant M20id is a nicely done finish
Cube hits as many colours of the rainbow as it can manage with its 2016 range
These are both from the women’s range. More proof that women do get the best colours
Cyclocross bikes typically get a more creative paint job than road bikes, and that’s the case with these two bikes from Fuji
Which would you choose? Answers in the comments box below
We’ve seen some mad paint jobs from Festka in the past. This one is more restrained. We like it
Orange is definitely a trend for 2016, as this Open is proves
Need further proof? This Santa Cruz Stigmata is a lighter shade of orange
Colnago used to do some really creative finishes in the past, and it’s injecting a bit of colour into its 2016 range with this limited edition C60
The V1-r aero road bike gets the limited edition treatment too, with a range of fetching colours. This green wins it for us
Mango's brand new Point R aluminium road bike is being offered in a choice of fetching colours, including yellow. There are definitely a lot of yellow bikes in 2016
Going in the other direction with its 2016 colours is Charge with its new Plug road bike
Can’t decide what colour you want? How about a plain white bike then? This is the new Colnago CLX
Finally, the fastest yellow bike, which you can now buy a replica off, is Chris Froome’s Pinarello Dogma F8

And don't forget the new brighter Celeste used on Bianchi's Specialissima
Screw the bike, I'd be happy with that Celeste stand.
My Eggplant XO-1 and Pumpkin XO-1s are now in every way decades ahead of their time!
Thankfully at least one part of BMC didn't get the memo:

"Black is so 2015"
Perhaps so but if ain't broken...
Nice to see the big brand names catching up with the likes of Kinesis with their Sick Green and Sweet Orange. Not before time either but then I'm definitely in the "black is boring" camp.
The BMCs all look great IMO!
Thank God - all those black "hey, it's carbon!" bikes are really dull now. Individually they look nice but at least I can find my lime green Kona at the lunch stops
Black bikes are best. Apart from Bianchi ones....
The Bianchi Specialissma in black with celeste writing and lines looks stunning
Slow news day?
Love the Cannondale CAAD12 Dura-Ace - colour and the whole bike. And the Festka.
Y'all forgot the Charge Plug 1 - http://www.chargebikes.com/plug-1/
