What are your favourite tyres? Tell us in this week's People's Choice poll.

Tyres can make a huge difference to the feel and performance of your bike, whether you define performance as speed, or puncture-resistant reliability for the office dash.

What's your favourite rubber? Do you crave speed and light weight, or do you demand ultimate reliability? Tell us in the comments below.

Here's how it works:

  • Post a comment to nominate a product. Check it hasn't already been nominated. Add a link to the product wherever you can.
  • Like a comment to vote for that product. Remember to like your own comment if you're nominating something.
  • One comment per product. Any multiple comments will be deleted and their likes will not count towards a product's score. The first nomination will be the one that is counted.

John Stevenson

John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work.

He was heavily involved in the mountain bike boom of the late 1980s as a racer, team manager and race promoter, and that led to writing for Mountain Biking UK magazine shortly after its inception. He got the gig by phoning up the editor and telling him the magazine was rubbish and he could do better. Rather than telling him to get lost, MBUK editor Tym Manley called John’s bluff and the rest is history.

Since then he has worked on MTB Pro magazine and was editor of Maximum Mountain Bike and Australian Mountain Bike magazines, before switching to the web in 2000 to work for CyclingNews.com. Along with road.cc founder Tony Farrelly, John was on the launch team for BikeRadar.com and subsequently became editor in chief of Future Publishing’s group of cycling magazines and websites, including Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Procycling.

John has also written for Cyclist magazine, edited the BikeMagic website and was founding editor of TotalWomensCycling.com before handing over to someone far more representative of the site's main audience.

He joined road.cc in 2013. He lives in Cambridge where the lack of hills is more than made up for by the headwinds.

Vittoria Rubino Pro are my tyre of choice. On the road bike I still have 23s on the audax bike I ride 25. I might replace the 23s with 25s if I have clearance when I'm next shopping for tyres. Although they don't make the 25s in blue AFAIK so I'd not have the colour coordination any more.

they have a great variety - marathon deluxe, mondial and racer are different characters. i would put schwalbe marathon plus tour as a nominee - lasts long (25 / 30.000 in some cases) +
relatively fast tire with a great grip.

It's niche, and I've already voted for the GP4000S, but I think the unique Top Contact Winter II Premium is worthy of a nomination.
