A relatively mellow start to the road season is being offered by London Phoenix, which has announced details of its Easter Classic on Easter Monday, April 5.
The organisers say the ride is a simple one to get to if you're living in London, starting within the M25 at Fairlop Waters. There are two filly signed routes on offer - 112km and 54km - and both will quickly take you out of the city into some of the most beautiful, quiet and unexplored countryside Essex has to offer.
LP says it's a really fast and flowing course for those with the legs, but also ideal for those just easing into the new season, or trying a long ride for the first time.
Both routes will be fully sign posted, and will take you through quiet country lanes, and past duck ponds and thatched cottages. The longer distance will pass through the villages of Good and High Easter, and features a new feed station with toilets where you'll be served free hot drinks and oat bars, as well as other wholesome goodies.
Those who complete either route will be given a seasonal gift, and there will be screenings of a selection of classic cycling films at HQ after the ride.
Entry is £12 + booking fee, with a donation going to Barnado's. Places are strictly limited to 300 riders so please book your place now
