After two year's competing at the top level of domestic competition UK team Sigma Sport - Specialized has stepped up to the next level becoming registerd as a UCI Continental Team. They mean to make full use of the opportunties that brings for racing abroad in the coming season. Check out their new team strip too.
The team has steadily grown into one of Britain’s most respected squads and is now considered a major force, having scored numerous successes at the highest level. The team contains National Champions, Olympians and Grand Tour Riders as well as younger riders eager to learn and bursting with potential. The riding, conduct and results of the team throughout 2009 has meant we are now one of the most exciting and respected cycling teams in the UK.

Wouter Sybrandy. 24. Winner East Yorkshire Classic Premier calendar 2009.
Tom Last. 21. National Junior MTB Champion 2008
Gareth Montgomerie. 28. Winner National Elite MTB series 2008.
James Williamson. 28. Winner National Under 23 Road race Series 2003.
Dan Duguid. 28. Numerous road and cyclo cross wins 2009.
Tom Snape. 23. Fresh from two years racing at Pro level in Belgium.
Race Program
The team will be riding the British Cycling Premier calendar Road race series and aiming for further success after Wouter Sybrandy’s win in the 2009 East Yorkshire Classic.
After a strong ride throughout last year’s Tour Series, the team finished fifth overall and Sigma Sport – Specialized are hoping for a return invite to this exciting series.
Believing in supporting the national series events, the team will also be riding the eight event British Cycling National Criterium Series.
Sigma Sport – Specialized will also target arguably the biggest races on the road calendar, the National Road Race and National Criterium Championships.
The team will be heading back to the Irish RAS once again, to defend Simon Richardson’s 2009 overall win and with Kit Gilham aiming to reclaim his 2008 King of the mountains jersey.
In addition to the domestic racing Sigma Sport – Specialized will be aiming to ride in UCI International stage races and single day races, with the exact calendar to be confirmed in the coming weeks but expected to start with the Paris –Troyes UCI 1.2 semi classic on 14th March following a training camp in Tuscany towards the end of February.
