Now there’s an autumnal nip in the air, it’s time to slip an extra layer underneath your jersey, and Gore’s Base Layer Lady Singlet is just the ticket. Its comfortable contoured cut, breathable polypropylene material and sensible price add up to a quality vest.
The stretchy fabric feels super-soft against the skin and does a great job of keeping you dry by wicking sweat away.

The singlet really does fit like a second skin, as Gore claims, the material following the natural curves of the body by virtue of the shaped cut of the eight panels that make up the garment. This necessitates lots of seams but they are flatlock-stitched and I wasn’t at all aware of them while wearing the vest.
I like the high V-neck, which adds to the snug feel of this top, as does the long body. It is cut the same front and rear, and has ample length to cover your hips and stay tucked in to the back of your shorts when you’re leaning over the bar.
Of course, this baselayer works in warm weather too, thanks to the fabric’s excellent wicking properties, so it’s a good wardrobe basic for year-round riding.

If you’re body confident you could wear it on its own on a hot day – in white it’s quite see-through, but the black is more demure.
Verdict
Well fitting and comfortable wicking vest
