Being a fan of VisioDry’s water repellent spray, I was keen to try this out, especially in hot, humid weather where glasses can suffer. I’ve not looked back since. Its ease of application and effectiveness are excellent, and you should get many applications out of both.

VisioFog Anti-fog Microfibre Wipe and VisioCrystal – Technical details

Bolstering the use of its VisioDry Superhydrophobic Water Repellent spray comes VisioDry’s new dynamic duo, and it could be just what you’ve been waiting for. VisoCrystal comes in either 250ml or 125ml spray bottles and is designed to strip away dirt and grime from any lens. That could be your trusty riding glasses, goggles, or even your GoPro lens, in preparation for applying VisioDry before wet weather riding and/or using the new VisioFog Anti-fog wipes. It states that the cleaner won’t strip gloss or matte-painted finishes and leaves no visible residue. The 250ml bottle should contain enough to clean 225 goggle lenses or 250 glass lenses.

Rather than a spray coating to combat fogging, Visoidry has developed an Anti-fog Microfibre cloth. The cloth, which is impregnated with an anti-fog solution, is transferred to your lenses once wiped over, creating an invisible barrier on the surface, preventing condensation. It’s compatible with all types of optical surfaces and is engineered to keep your vision fog-free for optimal vision. VisioDry states that the chemical product is not dangerous to humans or animals.

It’s quick and easy to use, just requiring a good wipe around the inside of your chosen lenses, reusable for up to 200 applications, and stores in its packaging to prevent it from drying out. VisioDry say that one application should last 8-10 hours, but they recommend applying every day for heavy and frequent use.

VisioFog Anti-fog Microfibre Wipe and VisioCrystal – Performance

I only needed to apply a tiny squirt of The VisioCrystal spray to my lenses and give them a quick wipe to effectively strip any dust or grime from the lenses. I could visibly see it quickly drying out, and it didn’t leave any trace residue, although it does smell pretty potent. I can easily see how I’ll get a lot of applications from one bottle.

Once clean, it was a quick and easy process to wipe around the inside of the lens of my glasses with the Microfibre cloth. A ‘huff’ test on the inside of my lenses showed how quickly they cleared. And if I missed a spot, I just needed to rewipe them again. I’ll be honest, I was wondering how on earth this little wipe could actually work, but decided the best test was to hit the trails and see. Admittedly, some glasses do a much better job of handling fogging than others. But most will, in hot and humid conditions or in wet weather, fog up at some point, requiring them to be removed for clearing, and we all know how annoying that is.

I switched between five models of glasses in testing. Some I just wiped over one lens or one side of a lens to see how it worked. Luckily, it’s been bloody hot, and I live somewhere that has a lot of hills, so it was pretty easy to work up a sweat and create some fogging. As I mentioned, a lot of glasses are pretty good at handling fogging and clear quickly, but it didn’t take long to see how well an application of the Microfibre cloth was working.

The difference is most noticeable in wet and warm conditions, where fogging is a big problem and hard to clear once in motion, but using the VisioFog wipe did a great job with only a little fogging creeping at the corner of my glasses. It was certainly way better and clearer than not using the application at all, and in testing where I’d only wiped one half of a lens, the difference was huge. Most of my rides were around 2-3 hours, and I cleaned and reapplied the wipe after each ride, as I got either wet or dusty, so it’s hard for me to ascertain if it would last 8-10 hours.

The wipe seals in the tiny package, which means it’s easily portable for reuse, good for when your mates say ‘give us a go’!

All of my glasses get a good clean and rub over as a matter of course, now I have discovered this product. It’s certainly not 100% perfect, and if I were to nitpick, a tiny bit of fogging could creep in at the very edge of close-fitting full-frame glasses, but it’s nothing that needed me to stop mid-ride. When combined as a 1-2-3 with the VisioCrystal Cleaner, VisioDry Water Repellent Spray, and the Anti-Fog wipe, it’s mighty impressive.

VisioFog Anti-fog Microfibre Wipe and VisioCrystal – Verdict

A quick Google and you’ll discover the market is a wash with anti-fog lens wipes, and I’ll admit I haven’t tried any of them. But they do claim only a short-term solution, which VisioFog addresses. Since they claim you could get up to 200 applications and one good rub can last a long time, this little wipe represents good value. And I like the fact that it’s so small, I could slip it into my pocket if needed.  Mate it with the VisioCrystal Cleaner and VisioDry Water Rellent spray to fend off pretty much anything the trail or weather can throw at you.
