Another new addition to PNW’s lineup is the Ozone Trail Jersey. It’s a no-frills wool and polyester blend t-shirt that’s soft and mega comfy. It provides a bit of warmth on those questionably cool days and I’m a fan of its low-key styling. However, it doesn’t deal with sweat particularly well.

With the Ozone Trail Jersey, PNW hasn’t tried to reinvent the wheel. Instead, the brand has taken a humble tech t-shirt and adapted it to perform nicely through cooler conditions.

It gets a simple design, using a Bluesign certified fabric made up of a blend of 20% wool and 80% polyester. Under the arms, PNW has rather considerately included a collection of laser perforations to add a touch of ventilation when you really need it.

Then, the Ozone jersey has been given longer sleeves and a contoured dropped hem to provide some protection against the elements.

Much like the Shuttle short, this jersey fits really nicely and is super comfortable thanks to that really soft blended fabric. It’s kept me comfortable in temperatures down to 10°C too. However, when things warm up a touch it can struggle with sweat.

At the best of times, grey isn’t an ideal colour for hiding sweat and that’s very true of the Ozone jersey. Where PNW says that the jersey is a solid mix between a tech jersey and your favourite old t-shirt, it swings more towards the old t-shirt side when it comes to dealing with sweat. Often, I’ve been left with massive sweat patches.

Sweaty stains aside, the Ozone jersey is ideal for those who might get too cold in a regular short sleeve jersey but perhaps too warm in a long sleeve and don’t want to resort to a base layer too soon. It even makes an excellent base layer under a jacket when things aren’t cold enough for a proper base but you want some protection against the wet stuff.

At slightly north of £43, the jersey is competitively priced against others such as the Nukeproof Blackline short sleeve jersey at £45. Though Five Ten’s TrailX T-shirt comes in at £35 it doesn’t have quite as relaxed a fit and neither get as soft a fabric.

The Ozone jersey from PNW can easily be compared to a casual t-shirt but it’s a little techier and more riding focused. I like its simple style and it’s definitely a comfy top but when things get sweaty, people will know about it.

PNW says, “We designed the Ozone Trail Jersey to be that first layer you don’t have to think twice about. Made from a breathable and soft melange of wool and polyester, the Ozone is like the overachieving lovechild of a technical riding jersey and your favorite old T Shirt.” It’s certainly comfortable but only somewhat breathable.
